Haha, yes. Kind of need to stick to things that freeze or store well, and are not cheap in supermarket or flown half way around the world and wrapped in plastic. I do find growing carrots a complete waste of time. Totally hit and miss, generally half the crop spoil and the ones that survive are mostly gnarly and crap. Why bother when you can buy 5 at the supermarket, locally sourced, packaging free, for about 20p.

But I've barely had to but beans, broccoli, squash, parsnips, tatties, onions, garlic, beetroot, sweetcorn for years now. Probably works out a wee bit more expensive but it tastes better and gets you outside! And my allotment is about EUR35 per year.

My efforts, in reality, have very little impact on saving the planet. I just like eating stuff I grow, any other benefits are an added bonus 😀

I’ll maybe do this when I retire as home-grown tastes much better and I’m sure it’s a great hobby - how come you pay in euros? Are you resident abroad?

Not much of a one for vegetables but supermarket bought carrots are completely pointless.
    No taste whatsoever.
Used to buy what they called dirty carrots from a local farm shop, they were delicious.

I kept hens for a while ( Welsummers) best eggs in the world.
A million ponds per egg though.

Yeah, I currently stay in Potsdam - just outside Berlin - but will likely be back in UK in the new year......back in guffyland. Only plus side is the climate is better for growing veg 😉

If you want to know why Scotland are a joke at qualifying for the WC then look no further than the fact we don't even have control of our own country. And if you just dismiss that idea then your part of the problem.
