Levein of 15 years would have been the perfect fit, football has moved on in that time, has Levein? I genuinely don't know. Obviously Utd fans views are influenced by what he did first time round when he was brilliant, best Utd manager for me since McLean, saved our club when Thompsons were all over the shop with their attempts to run it, but prob non Utd fans looking on a bit bemused at our attempts to recruit him, given his Scotland and hearts records. He may well be the man to take a sporting director role given the respect he commands with us, experience, and understanding of the club. But surely any such appointment needs due diligence, though he might seem obvious candidate, doesn't mean he is the best, and I don't think his stock is such now that he can makes huge demands on the club which he maybe thinks he can. Definitely think he would have been the best man to Unite the support to the end of the season and give the place a lift, given the credit and respect he has in the bank here, although ultimately with the keepers we have, its almost academic who is in charge.

Levein could very well still be interested in coming in at the end of the season and Goodwin might have been his suggestion for the managers post to sound out what is going on at the club. There is a link between Goodwin and Levein.

One thing for certain is that if we are relegated this forum will be inundated with posts telling us that we should have given Levein anything he wanted.

Well then folk should be careful what they wish for. Levein wanted to be DOF with Andy Kirk as his manager, hence why we went elsewhere. Hearts & Cathro all over again.

Another chapter in our lives as Utd supporters. We have had a vast array of managers, all with their own ways, some more successful than others. Lets give Jim a chance and support the club in these last few games. I hope to see a good reaction from the players and supporters at tonights game. Time for the players to gel as a team and grind out a result. JGTA.

I'm a bit of an optimist so I'm not quite ready to give this up just yet.
Think Goodwin has to play Anaku with Fletcher now. We need to score goals. His turn to win the pen is what weve been missing.
Graham back in beside Edwards in a 3 with Mulgrew. Maybe use Smith again to anchor the midfield, keep Freeman and Behich wide.
