OK, maybe I should have called the BBC disgracefully pro-government as much as right wing, but it was the right wing government that imposed the lockdowns. The BBC never asked the searching questions about their competence in areas like care homes and PPE shortages. Or rather they did sometimes ask them, but they always allowed them to go unanswered. When ITV presenters refused to allow them to avoid the questions, all of the government ministers boycotted the channel!

If you want to turn this into the rights and wrongs of lockdowns, you'll have to find someone else to discuss it with.

And this is the difference, for me it wouldn’t have mattered who was in charge, left, right, centre they would have all made mistakes, no party would have come out of it smelling of roses, it was a liquid situation that was changing all the time, it just seems some people want to use it to score points, I’m afraid you have to look at things with balance.

To call this present Conservative government, right wing, is completely laughable, even calling them conservatives is a stretch.

That's hogwash - the pandemic coinciding with a governing party that holds the welfare of the people as an alien concept, and not one they even recognised, was a disaster that led to tens and tens of thousands of people dying unnecessarily.

It’s an opinion not ‘Hogwash’ 🙂

It can be both and it is.

Of course tories are going to do worse in a 'public' health crisis - their whole reason d'etre is to promote the private sphere.

Saying 'it wouldn’t have mattered who was in charge' makes no sense based on the historical and philosophical origins of the main political parties.

I find that a really pathetic argument, saying "well, nobody else would have done any better". I firmly believe any other party would have done better. It was a massive and unprecedented situation, and I'm sure some mistakes would have been made, but the way the government handled it was shambolic.

I think the Covid enquiry will conclude something similar.

Pretty safe ground for lefties to give their views from, seeing as they are safe in the knowledge that we will never know how they would have faired, or how many 'mates' they would have had, to have had their pockets lined.

If we ever get to find out what those conclusions are.....

Another really pathetic argument. Especially because you mention "how many 'mates' they would have had, to have had their pockets lined". So you appear to admit that many Tory pockets were lined, but who knows, others might have been equally corrupt!
