I could talk about the contradictions of it all for days but this DEFINITELY isnt the place!
Thank you. I was thinking in terms of ‘economics and social justice’ and I am quite happy to include Jesus amongst my short list of personal heroes and ‘role models’.

Again without in any way having a go, as someone who is, I think, much further to the Right - though a long way from the ‘far Right’ - how do you then remain comfortable labelling yourself a Christian?

I certainly don’t always live up to it, but I’d argue that my view of the world is considerably more ‘Christian’ than yours. Even Swale seems more closely aligned - in terms of economics and social justice - to the teachings/example of Jesus, although he’d probably call himself a ‘****ing Christian’.

P.S. Good to see, from a continued distance, that the decent people of the country appeared to stand up against the fascists and racists last night. Count me in on that one.

Noah's arc story of God ethnic cleansing people he didn't like, and sod all the innocent that get caught up in it, is a good example of left wing extremism.

No expert on the Bible, RS…but isn’t Noah’s Ark from the Old Testament and therefore what AF broadly refers to as Right wing? I thought it was just a bit of a parable to reinforce the authoritarian God…i.e. ‘do as you’re told or else’.

Isn't the OT, as well as being full of contradiction (Genesis I and II for starters), very similar in tone to the Koran and the Torah? I've always thought so.

Im by no means ‘devout’ but not am I one of those irritating ‘pick n mix’ Folk who follow Christian ideas only when it suits. The bible’s not an instruction booklet it’s just a bunch of stories and there are bits I’m 100% against (the ‘sin’ of same *** love for example I consider bollox) and there are also bits that need a bit of interpretation (Noah’s ark story being an allegory for climate change for instance, not interpreted as such by all). The big message I carry with me is thinking about the impact of my actions on others, of course other folk have their own values.

Re Swale, not gonna judge anyone else based on their witterings on an internet forum, nor does my judgement really mean anything

Fair enough…I wasn’t ‘judging’ Swale…or you. Just interested seeing as, I think, you used to describe yourself as the forum’s only church goer.

Doubt that Noah’s Ark has anything to do with climate change…just floods (which have been around for ever), being prepared and following God’s advice.

My biggest ‘life’ message is, similar to yours, ‘Do unto others as you would have done unto you…’ which a few people would do well to take notice of right now.

I always liked the tale of Onan spilling his seed upon the ground. Every time I sneak into the park for a crafty w ank I rejoice in how I'm following the Lord's words

Jesus as i was taught was all about a harmonious living , without sin/ bias/ intolerance. You could make that left leaning, but it depends which country you are in.
The EU includes people of many faiths and not a small number of atheists, and among EU diplomats there are different views on the role of religion in the bloc. One quipped that the key distinction between Europe’s major political movements is that “socialists want government to be god, and Christian Democrats, god to be government.”

In the US its even more complicated.

Italy is the home of modern day Christianity, jesus teachings have been used to both ends of the spectrum.

ps. Yes the decent people came out all right
Glad to see this nut job whipping them up, has been suspended. Will 2 tier Keir have him prosecuted?

Most of these protests just chanted Free free Palestine? Not exactly sure what that has to do with ant fascists and racists. Especially as these marches are usually full of racist chants

Not Starmer's call. It's down to the DPP.
