So the deal for Blackett-Taylor is a loan until the end of the season and then permanent from July, around £300k the fee. There is obviously some clever accounting going on here, as presumably the actual Transfer fee will not be included in the current years accounts. Which again hammers home the unrealistic views of some fans who think that derby should be able to afford to pay transfer fees. yes they can but there is still FFP to keep within and a need to leave some wriggle room for the end of the season.

The loan player I've bee told is Smith from Wednesday, again a loan provides flexibility financially. There is no suggestion that if the loan does happen, Smith would be a permanent signing.

Again this shows that the club is being cute in financial management, not wanting to have a long term contract commitment which reduces the ability to respond whatever the situation is at the end of the season.

I'm becoming increasingly impressed with our owner and board, decisions are made based on a clear strategy and with the aim of financial stability, no matter what the emotional temptation to splash cash on players to get a quick promotion might be and despite the clamouring from some fans.

See in the DT that PW hasn’t ruled out a departure before the window closes...but only on the condition we end up with a stronger squad.
He’s also said that any departure will only be of a player on the ‘periphery of his team’, which I guess could mean could mean any one of four or five, including two or three of his summer signings.

PW has also said he can't get another player other than the striker in, without selling one, due to the constraints of the business plan, which reinforces what I was saying (and GP for that matter) about the unrealistic expectations of fans who seem to think that Derby's attendances mean the club can afford to pay a transfer/loan fee and wages of the players required this window.

Mind you the figures quoted in the report of what Clowes has paid to rescue the club should perhaps bring some sense of reality to some.

Wednesday still playing hard ball over a loan fee for Smith, bizarre really, Derby aren't in the same division, Wednesday aren't flush with cash but shifting the wages of a player they are hardly using isn't a priority apparently.

Allegedly linked with Ebou Adams - defensive midfielder - from Cardiff City on loan for the rest of the season. Played a lot of games for FGR and certainly an area we need to strengthen. Know little else about him.

he is 28, a Gambian International, played 1 game in the AFCON in which he got a red card (so possibly combative?), has played a handful of games in the championship for Cardiff, signed from Forest Green. Generally has played L1 and L2, so not a "fancy dan" midfielder dropping down, but looks like a genuine L1 midfielder who if Warne and his scouting team have got it right, is proven at this level.

Should be signed on loan today, if all the formalities are completed.

My wife ran over a small child's football when in Banjul about 15 years ago. Hope it wasn't his and that he holds a grudge...
