Hi Howdy, hope you are keeping well. I haven't read this whole thread but I did pick up the general theme.
I think the 2 of us disagree on almost all aspects of politics, I think its fair to say that I am in favour of a larger role for government than you would like to see. Does this mean I think any less of you? Not one jot. I have no problem with people who believe in small government, I just don't agree. I am pretty sure however that the current crisis will kick any arguments about the future role of the NHS down the road for at least 20 years and when we do finally get back to some sort of normality, no politician regardless of ideology will advocate anything other than at least a reasonable increase in funding.

    Hi Tony

Hope you and the family are keeping safe.

FWIW I hope the lower paid nurses and workers get a decent pay rise. No argument from me.

I've actually no issue at all with the NHS getting extra funding.

I just think it's a dysfunctional beast, that needs a complete overhaul. It's totally mismanaged and it's being used as a political football. Unfortunately the population has been getting older and people society are more demanding than they've ever been.

You'd think we were getting the poorest care in the world if you read what people write on here. Do I think the mass majority of people deserve better? Yes I do.

All my experiences with the NHS, in the main, have been positive. One or two instances have occurred where your, typical finger pointing idiot, would explode because things haven't been perfect.

It's clear there's layers and layers of non productive buffoons, earning high salaries as well. I'm not saying it's adequately funded because I suspect it isn't. Some drugs and treatments are far too expensive. Patients are in there that shouldn't be. Not every nurse or doctor is doing a great job.

Someone just needs to get some proper control of it before we chuck zillions at it.

Thanks for your detailed and fair answers Cayton. I think you will find nurses wages are/ were below inflation leveis.
As regards your question for me. What do you mean by value ?

Just found this admittedly a couple of years old but will give a taster of what nurses up against

    https://www.theguardian.com/society/...nt-over-decade

so based on that you have to take account previous years with no wage rises...

How do you value the job Boris government is doing. Do you value the effort he/they putting in? Do you think he/they deserves a pay rise for his effort? Several have caught covid19 due to having to run our country whilst we sit safely at home.
Check this website out This is from September. Think you are taring Boris government with past Tory government.

No several have caught covid 19 by not observing their own advice
Don't you recall BOZO shaking hands at meetings he attended just weeks ago
    Perhaps this article explains

I'm trying to have a conversation with Roly. Please stop butting in and Wait your turn. I will answer you once I'm done. . Sometimes you have to teach kids manners.

Well I beg your pardon you can still have your conversation with roly who's stopping you & any way your conversation ended rather promptly
Don't bother answering but I would be very careful in your future posts so as not to butt in on any thread
