I certainly didn’t expect a EFL trophy game with so few first teamers in action to evoke such a strong and lively response. It’s already had more comments than the recent victory over Burton in the same competition.

I didn't expect to see so much criticism of the head coach and recruitment team until after the Chesterfield game.

He isn’t even the manager by the way so what is your opinion on the recruitment team please as surely the shock should be RM to go to or is he Teflon in all of this ?

Our recruitment has been pretty poor really a few hits but the rest are unfit or injury prone rejects not exactly fair to bash Maynard with is it.

Langstaff has been replaced with Brown just let that sink in too.
    I can’t because he hasn’t.

The defence played well last night
I thought the main issue was that our midfielders weren't strong enough and kept getting muscled off the ball so we couldn't keep possession
That's going to happen when young boys play against senior pros
There were some decent performances from one or two kids though that showed promise for the future
Nick Tsaroulla did well and Josh Martin got better as the game went on - the game time helping him get up to speed
    So a few positives
I'm in a minority in thinking this competition is pretty useful for giving youngsters a chance and finge players competitive minutes

Whilst our squad has obvious flaws, last night was a run-out for the youngsters and little else. I want us out this damn competition sharpish, so if we have to lose - so be it.

Brown is a rotten signing, mind you. Give me a traffic cone any day of the week.

I really don't like this competition, but it does serve a purpose in giving the youngsters and fringe players a run out. A bit like the reserves when we had a team. So whilst we are in it it serves a purpose, but I wouldn't be worrying overly about results or if we don't go very far. I didn't see or hear any of it, so can't comment on last night.

Brown was as 'rotten' as the service he got.
He was so isolated I bet he's got his own changing room.

Other than your thoughts on Martin who I thought looked entirely lost I think you are right but it would not bother me if the games were played on afternoons or behind closed doors as that is really all they good for - giving people a run out. The only teams who I think truly benefit are the prem under 21 teams who get a soft landing into the mens game.

It’s not a comp I like at all but it’s great for the academy players to get the experience and to get minutes into players coming back and just signed, it serves that purpose pretty well if nothing else.

Interesting suggestion about playing in the afternoons for the early rounds
Maybe with free entry for fans as happens with some U21 games?
    That might have legs
The semi finals usually draw reasonable crowds and the final often gets enormous attendances - it's a day out at Wembley where tickets are reasonably priced and the whole family can go together
