Mostly about stealing prodigious quantities of fags and trying to smoke myself to death before I left school.

If only another senior member of the squad were here to make oblique non-revelatory references to the Excelsior Filling Station Green Shield Stamps heist that had the Linksfield precinct and DA baffled.

I also believe that identity theft had its dark genesis in a retail caper south of the Dee involving ‘borrowed’ Co-opy numbers.

Nice to see the Met are institutionally corrupt, as well as institutionally racist.

No doubt lessons must be learned

I haven’t seen the story, but, I predict that lessons have already been learned, changes have already been put in place.

Concerning Neil Oliver in today's Herald letters page:

    "Lancet shoots down Oliver
NEIL Oliver may be a competent historian/archaeologist (his preening and hair-flicking to the camera so distracts from what he says, it is difficult to know) but he is clearly not an epidemiologist. His advocacy of abandoning all aspects of lockdown is dangerous in the extreme (“‘Lockdown has been the biggest mistake in world history’”, The Herald, June 11).
Recent research published in the Lancet, comparing the history of the pandemic in different countries, shows clearly and unequivocally that those employing early and rigorous lockdown had much greater success in controlling the outbreak than those that dillydallied. It is likely that similar results will be seen for those that relax precautions too soon. Interestingly, the research also shows that, counter-intuitively, countries with the highest GDP per capita had the worst results. Less surprisingly, those with high levels of income inequality also did badly.
Somehow, it seems unlikely that Oliver will be mentioning this research any time soon.
    Dr RM Morris, Ellon."

I see that face masks are not compulsory at royal ascot, as part of government research into the handling of mass events.

The guidance for meetings at Ascot during July and August 2021 say,
“Currently, face coverings will be mandatory for spectators in all areas, unless eating or drinking. However, this may not be needed when in outdoor areas, so please check this page ahead of your visit. A limited number of face coverings will be available to purchase on-the-day at Ticket Office East.”

This seems to be the norm currently across the UK. Visits to the Falkirk Wheel, the Kelpies, and Five Sisters Zoo in West Calder with my grandchild recently were all subject to similar restrictions. TV footage of the fitba makes it look like masks aren’t mandatory in such close-proximity crowds either.

And if a few aristo knobs manage to add virus-spreading among themselves to the traditional in-breeding, that can’t be a bad thing.

Very close. The institutionally corrupt Met are just flat out rejecting the ruling though. Seems it’s a matter of opinion & the institutionally corrupt Met disagree, so that’s ok then & we can all move on
