Ardley To Barrow

Can't see this happening, unless his family are sick of London and want to move to the lake district. Can't see him living up in Barrow to be honest. Its depressing ar the best of times.
London club, South Midlands or Home Counties club would suit him best.

That's how I'm thinking. He was stuck in a flat wasn't he on his own in the lockdowns, so surely he would want to spend some time with his family now and wait until a suitable job comes up maybe closer to home because he will no doubt get offers. Barrow is about as far north as you can go at tier 4/5 level. Only Carlisle are further north.

With Neal Ardley what you get off the field is a safe pair of hands the way I see it. If you want your club to have stability, and security (which is what a lot of clubs do) he is your man and one of the main reasons he will get offers.

That served us well after the relegation and the summer of the sale to the the Reedz brothers and all the turbulence and fall out behind the scenes. We won half our games and got to a play-off final so it wasn't all that bad.

Of course I get he didn't save us, and wanted him to have the rest of this season, but understand why he departed. I'm also fully behind Ian Burchnall.

Where I do think there was a misalignment with Neal Ardley certainly this season is that Notts County in the National League should be taking the game to teams, being creative, ruthless and attacking, scoring goals. Much like what we have seen in the past six or so games under IB. Towards the end of NA's tenure we were a bit too cautious and timid, and should not have been scraping draws away at the likes of Boring Wood after going 2-0 down, surrendering a lead against Kings Lynn in the last minute at home, or huffing and puffing holding onto a 1-0 win against Wealdstone away. Added to that playing poorly as well.

A big gamble by the owners to make the change but one they may have thought was worth it. We are in the playoffs so time will tell if we have that extra to get us over the line this year. If not then I don't think it will be due to the managerial change. Plus it means IB will be at an advantage that he wouldn't have been had he come in at the end of the season as he has had a couple of months to get two know the players and put across his ideas. So that will bode well for next season whatever league we are in.

NA’s time has our manager has been discussed to death. Varying opinions about his tenure and dismissal. I don’t believe there’s much more to say?

And yes, I would suppose folks will have an opinion about NA’s potential move. Different discussion to the one about his time at Notts, in my opinion.

Ok, let me try make it clear for you.

- some supporters believe NA should have been given until the end of the season. A decision then made dependent on our league status
- some supporters believe NA needed to go ASAP
- some supporters believe NA should have departed sooner

There maybe some other scenario I’ve missed, but I think that about covers it.

So, what I was trying to say, is there anything further to say on the matter that hasn’t already be said/written? As I stated in my previous post, I should of added the ?

I would have said given him to the end of the season, however that is before I knew who was available as manager potential. Being 100% honest I did not know IB's form or potential so I have to admit some reservations about the appointment, certainly after the first few matches. Now though, regardless of promotion or not, I think we have the right guy at the helm.

Admit I am wrong re Ardley but would say to others hindsight is an imperfect tool as are stats (Ardley had an over 42% win ration), please let the past be the past and stop the "who said what" drivel.

Personally I’m pretty sure the #mission is a bit tongue in cheek. I always wanted Ardley to succeed both for him and Notts, I said though I was wavering because the football was just getting worse and worse. IBs done a great job with Rodriguez and Miller, their like 2 new signings, I always seen Rodriguez as a number 10, needs that free role between the lines. Not sure about Sol and probably I’m not sure about Ardley now, but the most important thing is we are clicking, we were very good yesterday and it felt like we could still go up a gear or two.

FGR didn't fare too well. Couldn't help but notice that 42-year-old Kevin Ellison was on the scoresheet again. That's one NCFC in a playoff final, let's hope we can make it two.

I honestly struggle to see why we have to be so divided on this now. Some of us at the time felt that Ardley should have been given the season. That doesn't mean we worshipped the ground he walked on though. Now, I see why the change was made but hindsight is a great thing. Fully behind IB, hope that Ardley gets a job when he is ready and that he learns from mistakes he may have made here.

I can't see him travelling that far north to be honest. But my concern is when he does get another managers job who will he get to be his assistant, I have a feeling he might come after Doyle.

Doylers not in a massively strong position, he has a big connection to Cov but they’ve done very well without him. Personally if I was him I would learn off IBs coaching techniques, on the face of it it’s a an absolute dream team. Yeah Ross played for Rangers for about 30 odd games, Michael Doyle’s played about 1000 games and at a better level, we have the perfect partnership, lock him in.
