Correct, the game of cricket doesn’t have a rule book, it doesn’t exist.

That's often due to a mixture of age and alcohol.

Need to win the 3rd test to keep my trip to the Oval meaningful

BFP I guess you haven't heard of a thing called the spirit of the game. Bairstow had left his crease for a few balls before Carey decided to run him out, but similarly with the Mankad method of dismissal it is the done thing to give the batsman a warning. Bairstow did not 'get what he deserved' at all.
durham if you think cricket is boring, I guess you wouldn't have watched enough to have that opinion.
That was a herculean effort by England after being 45-4, after two close games, this series could still go either way.

Quite a few differing opinions on that one. Without doubt, technically it was out, though you could argue it was against the "spirit of the game".

Didn't you also guess I was a member/supporter of just stop oil?

This would suggest that your guesses are worthless. Let's stick to facts (not something your hero can help you with). lol

PS. The lol is meant to be ironic as I'm considerably older than 14.

For sure there's not much between the two sides.
However, I can't see how England can win an Ashes test.
England have periods where they drift right out of the game, while the Aussies are merciless, relentless.

Regarding "the incident" - Jonny only has himself to blame.
It should help galvanise the England team & fans with righteous anger though.

I agree. I didn't see the incident live, so I heard/read the furore and assumed that the stumping was blatantly late, but I've seen it now and it wasn't. Bairstow simply got sloppy and started walking towards Stokes too soon, virtually as soon as the ball passed him. He's probably done it dozens of times in county cricket and never paid for it, but at Test level the opposition will take any advantage you give them. The lesson is for England to be as ruthless as the Aussies are in such circumstances.

It wasn’t Mankad, Bairstow wasn’t at the non striker’s end.

You could debate ‘the spirit of the game’ all day. The bottom line is that Bairstow shouldn’t have needlessly given Carey the opportunity to stump him. England can try to take the moral high ground here but in truth Bairstow wouldn’t have been switched on enough to get an Australian batsman out in that way. Which is one of the reasons we’re 2-0 down.

To me same old Aussies always cheating 🥲
They have form for cheating, yesterday the catch to dismiss Duckett by Starc(he must have known he had grounded it) but still continued celebrating as a catch
The Bairstow run out stumping it was the end of the over keeper got it in his hands(it wasn’t as if Bairstow was trying to sneak a run) so was underhanded and definitely not in the spirit
Just the same as Sheffield United when they didn’t give the ball back at the throw in and went and scored - stinks and not good for sport
