I've read in a few places that clubs have to meet the supposed £2mill release fee for Styles. This only applies if clubs are bidding over the £2mill and the club try to say, "No we want more"--Styles can then insist he is released at £2mill to his preferred new club.

If bids come in below £2mill Barnsley can still accept the bid. They can let him go for any valuation they consider acceptable. Styles contract lasts until Summer 2025.

So 2 of our much heralded summer recruits have returned to the club having been unable to gain playing time at third rate Scottish clubs. One is now back out on loan at a club at the same level from which he was recruited, so no progress there, and the future of the other remains uncertain, he won’t get game time with us.

The other two, Cosgrove and Watters have more splinters in their backsides from sitting on the bench than they have memorable moments.

So all in all summer recruitment looks questionable.

Now we’re in the selling game before we can recruit again so it’s going to be a headless chicken last few days as per usual. Does anyone else remember the statement we want to get our business done early?

Although things are going ok on the pitch results wise, we are far from a dominant force but the foundations are there and a realistic push for promotion can be made with astute signings. So come on BFC let’s see some ambition. You’ll have a few Bob when Styles leaves this week although it will probably be on a 4 year payment plan or similar.
