Still he spoke loads and gave rumoured transfer targets that very rarely materialised to the fans and never missed a chance to speak to the Evening Post

As we are, and based on the last 6 years, I'd say the latter looks the more likely.
It?s hard to stay but their tenure is already longer than the latter group who as we know all ran out of funds and enthusiasm so they have a chance to better that infamous group.

Of course the gap haves and have nots has undoubtedly widened and it?s harder to punch above your weight in this era because of the increased money now in the game.

What is interesting with that non-glamour list of clubs is a good percentage of them have spent huge money on either upgrading their existing ground or moving to a purpose built stadium.

Owners number of league (and play off) games table

    1. Alderman Heath 1209
    2. Jack Dunnett 825
    3. Derek Pavis 610
    4. Charles Barnes 602
    5. Len Machin 334
    6. Ray Trew 321
    7. C. & A. Reedtz 258

    10. Alan Hardy 115

    14. Albert Scardino (not including when run by admin) 87

Generally speaking, an owners most successful period comes early-mid before a collapse and the owner stepping down/selling up. Dunnett is the standout exception as his peak came fairly late in the day, though that was on the back of a lengthy spell in tier 2 before the final push.

We are still at the point where one good result (including tonight) could pivot us back on track, but after last season's collapse a repeat of that would surely throw the cards up in the air and you can't rule any out any scenario then.

I remember when we were still in tier 5, quite a few on here were insisting they were reserving funds for when we got back in the FL and then we'd really see a statement of intent from the bros. Similar to how the statement of intent was anticipated with their first managerial appointment once Ardley had exhausted his use for "steadying the ship whilst they got their feet under the table". It seems pretty obvious to me now that there will never be an injection of serious cash from them whilst substantial income from the best gates in 30 years isn't having much impact at all other than keeping us afloat.

    Interesting stuff.

I am not sure we have seen an approach like the Reedtz before if we have it?s rare so hoping they buck the trend of success being obtained in the first half of an owners period in charge.

Have the owners spent more on the club whilst in tier 4 than 5, I presume so with the millions spent on the pitch and the Nest etc. what is the total spend since they came in, did I see ?12m the other day once the latest accounts came out. That sounds like serious cash for a National League and now League Two club to me.

You could be right that maybe on the transfer front they will never spend BIG like other clubs have. They have increased their spend since being in this league but that?s due to fees being received since getting into the League Two. They have only spent a proportion so would guess they are net positive on ins and outs.

The best gates in 30 years is continually worth mentioning. A very good barometer of progress

Interesting analysis from the usual suspects, but some surprising revisionism on the Reedtz bros time at the club and even comparison to ... Alan Hardy?

Is a bad month in football really all it takes for some of the most sensible, measured (not that they get everything right) owners in league 2 to be compared to that whopper - who is a stain on the club.

As they are doing it sustatinably (they say) it seems the fans, specifically on here, are in way more of a rush to get to what will end up being a glass ceiling for us for years (league one).

Why not just enjoy the ride and stop bursting blood vessels thinking up mad conspiracy theories - we will get there eventually.

Talk of being relegated again is laughable, maybe all the urgency/rush is the slighty older average age on this board, really not sure but some STRANGE takes in this thread.

At the end of day we are playing crap football, Bottom of the current form table, Recent signings not good enough, A manager who has no idea, and should have been sacked last season. If we persist with this crap next season then expect a flirt with the NL again..

Regarding the Evening Post, he tried to get them to give more coverage to Notts. A laudable aim. He was told that he could produce his own once weekly column.
If you look today on their website the latest article is about Dan Crowley leaving on 14th January.

I've been crying out for SM to get a bit of help.

Intriguingly, the club has put up an interview with JOB reflecting on last season's 5-5. If JOB is around Meadow Lane a bit more, I'll be very happy indeed.

Also, was a little surprised from the Didzy interview to read just how much a confidence player AJ seems to be - I guess many strikers are. I reckon the next ball to go in off the bar will see him add quite a few more in rapid succession.
