Yes, he went off the boil and seemed to lose confidence, but then the entire side was underperforming.

I hope he stays and rediscovers his best form with us. He clearly cares and puts a shift in most games, unlike Eli Sam, who he's been bizarrely compared to.
don't do X. I'm sorry to hear he's getting beat up on there. I was only comparing him to Sam in one respect, and even though I still think he could be more physically imposing for his size more often, there are other parts of his game where he's a fantastic asset to the team. He defends from the front and back as well as I've seen any Notts striker for years, for example, and of course his goal tally speaks for itself.

I don't think we've seen the best of him yet, but it's not unreasonable to say that he looked less and less effective as last season went on, and it's definitely up for debate exactly how much of that is Maynard's fault - if that's what you're implying.

I also hope he stays and realizes his full potential with Notts. It's also possible that might be in $$$ in a sell on fee.

His drop off in form coincided with Crowley getting sold. Same as Traore never looked like scoring coming in after Crowley left. We really didn't create very much at all since Crowley left. Agree that pumping fight balls into an isolated Jatta when he's not even that good as a hold up player was stupid by Maynard, but at least when Crowley was around we created decent opportunities for him.

Expect Jatta and Traore to come good if we can revamp the midfield.

If you'd actually read my comparison of him to Eli Sam, you'd know that it was merely a physical comparison. Are you seriously suggesting you don't see the comparisons between the two regarding their ability to look physically dominant but come up short against similar physical players?

I never questioned Jatta's work rate, he works incredibly hard and was very rarely rewarded for his efforts in the second part of last season, which is probably part of the reason why he ended up so frustrated and got himself sent off needlessly.

The thing with physicality is it?s not just physiologically based. You need to have something inside, that burning desire to want to engage in that side of the game. You can?t coach tenacity and the sheer will to get one over the player you are up against. Going to the gym and bulking up doesn?t make you any more or less physical. If you have it upstairs then that will go further than merely being a big unit. I want to see Jatta making him self big, getting his elbows out. He?s too easy to mark IMO. His strength is more his pace and work rate rather then, well, his strength.

Mark Hughes the old man utd player was a good example of a aggressive player not very big but won most challenges.

I remember seeing a 5ft 10 Gary Mabbut dominate 6ft 7Mick Wait in one game. I played against MW just before he joined Notts and I couldn't get anywhere near him in a tussle for aerial balls and I'm the same size as GM. The big sod kept me grounded for one particular corner by standing on my foot!

Jatta sometimes gets bossed by thuggish L2 defenders like Lewis at Wimbledon, but he's far more capable physically than Eli Sam ever was. Jatta has scored some great headers. He can jump really well when not being manhandled. He also outmuscles defenders sometimes, like that goal when he went through and pushed two defenders aside despite being fouled and then finished calmly. Eli Sam pretty much never won a header and refused to even try most of the time, despite being an inch or two taller than Jatta. I just don't get the comparison.

I think the reason Jatta gets outmuscled by defenders like Lewis is that they are simply stronger than him, not because he lacks desire. Lewis is an absolute unit and looks more like a rugby player than a footballer. He'd outmuscle pretty much any striker. Jatta is tall, but he isn't massively built.

This is third hand but from a reliable person, that Notts have made Elliot Hewitt an offer!

I'm sure jatta learned some valuable lessons in the play off semi final and will be a better player for it. Possibly a more physical force aswell...!!!
