Nearly 2,000 cases in Scotland linked to the tartan army travelling to London.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-57667163

EDIT: Sorry - 1,991 cases in Scotland linked to watching the Euros. Nearly two thirds of the cases were fans who had travelled to London, with 397 actually attending the game at Wembley. Some of the others had attended the fan zone in Glasgow.

For context when Glasgow was kept in level 3 the case rate was 80. Vaccines have been the game changer with kickdown. The death rate has remained very low

If any of you can mind O last early summer the ancient nation O Scotland was almost Covid free without a vaccine and went day after day with zero deaths.

Where has it all went wrong with Dundee almost the Covid capital of europe?.

Too many folk thinking it's over and clearly not giving two phux.

I was in Aberdeen on Wednesday and, in Union Square shopping centre I didn't see a single person without a mask on and I was there for hours. Go to the Overgate and you'll see one within about 2 minutes...

Here is an example of the reporting i was in about earlier, all about case numbers:

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-57712737

A couple is things strike me about it. The first graph is cases per 100,000 over 14 days. Not 7,(which has always been the reported measure so far) but 14. Secondly, the next graph doesn't have a line for number of deaths. It means there isn't proper context IMHO.

Im not sure i understand the relevance of a 14 day measure as opposed to the 7 day measure. Reporting like this just raises so many questions for me, and firstly wonder if all the data is from the same time period, of just the latest data available which could be weeks apart. An example is our own 7 day figure is based on data that is 3 days old, because the new data takes that long to settle down for whatever reason.

And how misleading is that second graph headline when everyone can see cases are on a nosedive at the end!

I am encouraged by what is happening down south now with heading with few restrictions, and i really do hope Nic follows suit before the new season starts. We have already exceeded what i think was a measure of success with over 85% of first doses delivered, and all age groups over 50 are 85% second dose delivered. If anything, just dont travel to away grounds for a wee while!

So......Boris lifts nearly all remaining restrictions as of 19th July! No masks, no distancing, full nightclubs and pubs, stadiums etc.

Whats everyone's thoughts on this? Would you be happy for that to happen up here given the case numbers we're seeing right now?

I too want to get most of my freedoms back, and to an extent, my life is almost back to normal, but i have my reservations that Boris is doing the right thing for the right reasons and i will do what he expects and look after myself and think of others, while others will see it as the green flag to party!

Thankfully, Nic has always been more cautious and i trust her more to do the right thing.

Just open stadiums up for all home supporters so i can get to see my team!

It seems to me, given their acceptance of high case numbers (talk of it being to 100,00/day), the English government are now pressing ahead with their herd immunity plan from last year. Of course things are vastly different now and the vulrenable are protected by a vaccine.
