I was in Kendal about a year ago BT, just after mid-day, an ordinary day, lots of shoppers about and mums with prams, two policemen strolled past, full robocop mode, cradling sub-machine guns. If it's felt necessary in a sleepy Cumbrian market town, then do you really need to ask why they might feel it necessary in Israel ?

BT: When I read anything from the Palestinian media, I have to question it ! (...and so you give as an example daysofpalestine.com that state a report from Haaretz !) Ok ,but I think a few differences ?? Is he 14 or 16 ? Did they take him from his home ,or was it as he walked along the street? Was there an 'altercation'? ....or did she try to speak with the soldiers? What do you think??

Israeli occupation forces harshly beaten Palestinian woman Rina Dirbas, 36, broke her face and skull as she was protecting her 14-year-old son from being detained.
“When I look at the mirror, I start weeping,” she said.

About a month ago, Dirbas went back home to find a large number of the Israeli occupation forces inside her house.
She rushed inside to find them trying to detain her 14-year-old son, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
Dirbas insisted to accompany her little son. “When I was inside the military vehicle, I wanted to speak with the Israeli soldiers,” she said, “but a of them immediately hit me with the butt of his gun in my face and I fell unconscious.”

Also Friday, a 36-year-old woman living in Issawiyah suffered a head injury due to an altercation with an Israeli policeman.
Rina Dirbas' family says that she was accompanying her 16-year-old son when he approached a group of policemen who summoned him on the street, requesting to hold a security check.
An altercation ensued between several young Issawyiah residents and the police. Dirbas' family says that during the clashes, one of the policemen hit her between the eyes with the butt of his gun. Police has yet to respond to this complaint.

NGOs call for public support in ending use of Palestinian child soldiers

An estimated 10,000 children are trained in Gazan terrorist camps each year, while at least 160 have died digging terror tunnels into Israel.
For decades, the letter states, Palestinian children "have fulfilled the role of combatants, human shields, rioters, laborers, support staff, and even as suicide bombers, and as a result, their childhoods have been short by death, severe injury, or imprisonment."
The global community's unwillingness to address the issue "has emboldened organizations such as Hamas, Fatah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and PFLP in their exploitation of children as war resources," the letter continues.
A 2016 report found 240 US-government approved textbooks, used in hundreds of UNRWA-sponsored schools were teaching Arab children between the first and ninth grades to kill Israelis and martyr themselves.
"These organizations expose them to inciteful and violent children’s shows, and flood social media with calls for jihad and terrorism," the letter reads. "When the children are older they’re sent out to partake in violent riots and to act as human shields as thousands of others have before them."
"In combat, children from 17 to as young as 9 have been pushed into the battle fray, to fight and die alongside adult militants and terrorists. While in some cases the youngest of these casualties has been covered up with older, fake ages on casualty lists, Hamas and PIJ have been proud of the ****agers that have been “martyred” in battle," the organizers noted in a statement on their website.
