Scotland's FA have announced no football until mid June at the earliest.

I thought that was the case during the last 30 odd years

With that in mind, would it work to return to those old fashioned play off systems of the ‘80’s (I think) when the relegation candidates of the league above played the promotion candidates from the league below?

Nothing is perfect and personally I still favour a Duckworth Lewis equivalent based on home and away form throughout the whole season, but it would reduce the number of matches still to be played if - for example - the current bottom three/four of the Premier League were to play the current top three or four of the Championship - probably behind closed doors - either on a knockout or mini league basis.

A decision will have to be made soon and there seems to be nothing but a deafening silence from the authorities.
I think that the EFL have given us an indication of where they're at. By saying that players should not return to training before the 15th of May and that they think the season can be completed in 8 weeks, they have given us an indication of an acceptable time line.

Return to training mid May, season recommence at the beginning of June and completing at the beginning of August. This means that they have accepted that next season won't be able to start until early September, at the earliest. I think that they can stick to this plan until the early part of May, before having to make other arrangements.

    Dalglish and Hunter test positive.
Two big names from the past, one a classy skilled player and the other a renowned hard man!!
    Hope they both recover soon.

It's almost as though anyone you think of famous is getting it.
Which brings into question again. How many people do we all actually know, who are infected with this, yet do not know it?

It’s really not...and it’s important to keep a sense of perspective.

The ‘famous’ are newsworthy but in actual fact you can probably name about half a dozen MPs...a similar number of people connected with football and maybe twenty or so other ‘celebs’.

In reality we have a population of around 66,000,000 and have had about 73,000 confirmed cases.
That’s tiny in percentage terms, but it would help so much and give us so much more idea of what is really going on if the testing that has been put in place in Germany and S.Korea had been implemented properly here.

Testing and discovery of a vaccine are really all that matters now and, imo, the World needs to forget profit and act as one for a change.

RA, I think you missed the point being made.

73 000 recorded cases. Yes I get that. But how and why are these recorded cases? Well the simple answer is, when someone is extremely ill to warrent medical treatment and the cause of the illness has to be assertained.

So out of 66 M, how many have had a slight chill, or no symptoms at all?
How many of those have been carrying this disease in any case?

Yes celebrities are newspaper fodder. But to me, it highlights a point made a couple of days ago. That the poor are suffering more?
Well if the big money people can't hide from it, then there is a helluvva lot of carriers out there to even get to them.

Seconded. Dalglish asymptomatic...discovered while being treated for something else I believe.

I was with you until that last sentence, but not for the reasons you may think. The inference in the sentence is that the world is still profit driven rather than solution driven. What evidence do you have for this?

I deal with many businesses in my day to day job and every one of them has taken a compassionate approach to handling the situation (obviously I don't deal with Branson) helped admittedly by a very generous (despite a few flaws) support programme from government.

Looks like yet another sideswipe at "capitalism" for no good reason, and it undermines your entire argument. Yes there will be some exploiters out there, who are to be condemned, but by and large business has responded admirably, being acutely aware that the peace needs to be won after the war ends.
