    True.

I don't think we're anywhere near that stage and I still wish IB well, but the phrase that worries me a little in his interview is that 'we weren't brave enough', which in effect is IB saying there's nothing wrong with the playing style, the players just didn't do it well enough.

No. There is problem. The playing style breaks down too often, especially under pressure away from home, because players at this level can't deliver it as consistently as players in the higher leagues. On our day we look fantastic, often at home, but in a competition where there are only two promotion places on offer you've got to be able to change your style and have a Plan B when things get ugly.

The answer is not to keep repeating that we didn't do 'Plan A' well enough. IB needs to recognise and learn this, otherwise he will eventually end up in a Curle-like scenario, and that would be to no-one's benefit.

Burchnall has done a lot of good things, but I would probably sack him in the morning. He’s had loads of opportunities to learn and he isn’t going to.

Might elaborate at some point but yeah, can’t crack on like this.

I respect your opinion more than most, so unusually strong words from you jacob. Not too different to what I said in post #170.

I said it after the Halifax game, there are a lot of good things around the club, but something is definitely missing.

So, I would say my biggest worry is that I think Burchnall knows exactly what’s needed, but the evidence is that he doesn’t know how to deliver it with the players he has.

Any time he’s been asked about the differences between this league and where he’s managed before, he gives the right answer. This league is about intensity. Style of play is less of an issue. Chesterfield weren’t direct by any means. They played out from the back, but they did it so much more quickly than we did.

Burchnall has basically created a flat track bully machine. Put a nice pitch and mediocre fifth tier opposition in front of him and this Notts team and we will steamroller them. Not necessarily in terms of winning 6-1 (although that happens now and again), but just never giving them the ball. But the opposition is allowed to play with intensity and aggression and every single time they do we go to pieces. That he clearly knows this is a problem and it still keeps happening is not good.

Don't you think we're stuck with the approach we've got for this season? The squad options are pretty limited. What do you have in mind for plan B?
For example, we revert to Rawlo and O'Brien or DKE...they add something but take other things away, without being promotion level players at what they do anyway.
It's a bit bleak, we can only strengthen the squad after the season. For this one, IB's probably better served by sticking to his instincts and principles and seeing where it takes us.
I suspect that's why he sounded so shaky tonight, he knows he's got no other better options for now

Played well at Kings Lynn when he came on. That's it.

Any goals conceded is a concern, it's the volume of chances - the shoreline is probably correct. Home crowd was behind them and we needed to kill the momentum, but we turned it into a game of counter-attacks and that brought the crowd into it.
We've got Stallard for match summaries, I'm expecting the answers from Burchnall.

Don't think he has any. Pretty much a one trick pony which works when teams give us space to play. Doesn't suit the rough and tumble of this league all the time.

Too many fancy dans in the team who are not prepared to do battle.. We need to off load both Wootton and Rodrigues. Neither have been any good for some time.. We need to get rid of Mitchell and bring the young lad back from Basford..
