Played and captained the side in the cup this evening
It is contrary to every transfer ever for a player to be ever present I didn't watch any football this evening so dunno if he was off the pace again as he has been in the first few games.
At this point I'd pull out of the deal and trigger Simakan the Leipzig defender's release clause. Є65m that's £10-15m cheaper than Guehi.
Cup tied dont matter much really, but it is a clear signal that a deal is far from close.
I'm not bothered that he's now cup tied. I'm just confused as usually players subject to a transfer are left out of the squad of cup day just in case they get injured/
However, with him playing every minute of every Palace match so far this season it certainly looks to me like he's going no where.

I'd rather we bought someone who wasn't FUCKING CUP TIED NOW!!!
grr
I generally don't care about 'The optics' of things. However, Parish is just taking the micky now.
If the player signs I genuinely don't think the fans will care at this point.
No one gets excited by CB signings anyway but the way this has all played out has really upset the fan base.
I was under the impression that bringing in Mitchell was supposed to give us a major bump in legitimacy, credibility & deliverability in the transfer market?
Prior to his arrival
We pulled of Tonali without anyone knowing anything about it.
Beat AC Milan to Botman.
Brought in Bruno from under the nose of Arsenal et al.
Gordon arrived for a competitive price.
BDB, Trippier, Targett & a few others.
All deals done without a saga a part from Botman. However, when the time was right to do the deal it was done and dusted.
Whilst I appreciate that he's just arrived less than a month ago. It's the transfer window. It's literally the only time of the year the DoF takes centre stage.
Before the window closes we need a WOW, We need a winger, regardless of what Howe has said that Right Wing position needs to be upgraded. Without that I will be very confident that we will not finish in the Champions League Positions.
I hope I'm wrong. I really do. Just a case that with 4 days of the window, Guehi and Trafford are the only players we're linked with doesn't give me any confidence that the back room additions have improved the club at all.
A lot of big talk about the people brought in, this is a results business and should they fail in their pursuit of Guehi then the entire recruitment team needs a very loud and rude talking to.
Parish is takling the piss now!!!
I hppe we walk away from this saga now
I think we should have walked away 2/3 weeks ago as soon as Parish started to play his silly games by upping the asking price each time a serious offer was made.
That way we would have had a bit more time to negotiate for an alternative. There must be quite a few out there adequate to do the job we need.
Palace buy well and sell well. Not quite Levy Spurs level but always difficult to get a bargain out of old melted welly head.
2 ways of looking at it.
1 - Olise going to Bayern should have been the warning that they would stone wall and play hardball over the Guehi transfer. Essentially, they don't need to sell and why would they let go for anything less than the absolute top dollar? We wouldn't
Currently they're enduring a defensive injury crisis and are down to the barebones at the back. They're almost forced to play Guehi.
2 - We as a club are currying favour with other clubs in the league by lining their pockets and the addition of Mitchell will smooth the transition from Hated financial bully to establish league benevolent big boy with deep pockets who do good deals for respectable prices with the lesser clubs in the league.
We have to remember that 20 clubs in the prem, are all in competition with each other. The rules are shared however the game is still competitive and everyone wants their piece of the pie.
What is this post trying to say?
We're a club who has gone from 'also ran' to 'race leader'. Misery loves company, the other also rans are jealous and will need to be placated as the young duckling of the north becomes a majestic swan of international club football.
It's extremely frustrating for us fans and as usual we're the last to be considered in the grand scheme of things. We're just gonna have to suck it up and keep on cheering the lads (miggy, Murphy et al) to victory.
More games we win, more money we earn the sooner we get to hoist the silver and reach the promised land of title winners!
Being reported now that we're looking at Simikan from Leipzig an an alternative. Genuinely hope its true as the Guehi saga has really put me off. I'll be more dissapointed if we sign Guehi now than if we do.
