There's no pollution, it's cleaner, a lower cost of production and safer than any alternative. We could have led the world if we had started it in the early 199o's when Maggie shut the pits.
This country has had an ambivolent attitude and approach to nuclear since the 1950's. Instead of building on the expertise we again showed ourselves to be leaders in the creation of technology and short sighted idiots in taking advantage of it, much as we found ourselves with football (thought I'd throw that in seeing as this is footymad). Other nations have a longer term view in their planning of major infrastructure whether it be power stations, railways, roads and not doubt other facilities. Maggie of course, in her desire to balance the books (short termism) took the route of the dash for gas. And like coal, it one day would run out or become undesirable.

So as I write our own nuclear is providing just under 10% of our requirements, wind less than 1%, no solar of course, CCGT (Gas turbine) 57%, Biomass (not green) ~5% and then another 5% imported from the excess nuclear from France and 3% from excess Norwegian hydro. A few other bits. In my view our energy security is pretty poor.

    The crazies are starting.

The BBC reported that apparently 'social media' was up in arms when Elon Musk 'appeared to make a Nazi salute' after thanking the crowd for 'making it happen' yesterday. Really????

Sounds more like lazy journalism to me, quoting social media.

Some social media warriors also thought they saw him goosestep off the stage before cleaning his Luger in the wings. (I made THAT bit up).

    They walk amongst us.............

This will be interesting when people from the UK, turn up at the US border with 'gender recognition certificates'. What will they do with passports which show a change in gender?

'Trump also signed an order designating two genders only - male and female – and declaring that they cannot be changed.'

Yeah the pardon system is mental.

Cashing in on the inauguration by pumping and dumping an official presidential ****coin is hilarious and completely on brand.

"We're going to expand our territory" was worrying.

Muskollini's 'awkward gesture' was, also worrying, or just an incredibly powerful billionaire autist having fun and saying **** you I'm untouchable now, which is also worrying.

All in all a great few days of entertainment and the birth of some tremendous memes.

It used to be alcohol and drugs but autism seems to be the new go-to to excuse otherwise unacceptable behaviour. ‘The defendant deeply regrets his actions m’lud but he only sent all those trans***uals to the death camp because he has very sadly suffered from undiagnosed adhd since the age of 5’.

When I heard about the gesture, I just assumed it was the media clutching at straws, but having seen it, it's impossible to defend. He knew what he was doing, and I honestly think he just likes ruffling feathers and getting people all worked up so he can then post how they're having a meltdown on X. It's all a big game.

Comforting I'm sure. Especially for the Jewish contingent.
