It will indeed, especially against a far superior side.

It's a collective effort obviously and recently the manager has let down the players and the players have let down the manager.

The one thing we can't see again is the level of lack of effort that we all saw in the Halifax game. Unacceptable. That combined with low confidence produced the worst display of the season I've seen.

Yesterday you could see the difference in the amount of effort the player put into the game compared to Tuesday. Maybe it was their way of telling Ardley that the style of football he wanted them to play wasnt working...

Yesterdays performance was a huge improvement on the 2 or 3 that went before. The reason for this I feel was obvious. JOB in midfield has a forward thinking mentality. Gone was the pirouette backward pass. Combine that with the solidity of the back 3 that included Ellis (not to mention the long throws - always a bonus) and we looked a much better outfit. I know the oppo was part-time, but we actually looked sharper, and that we wanted it more. Lets see now if we can continue this into Tuesday, or if NA bows to the temptation to return to the previous midfield dullness. I hope not.

Also, can you imagine what a field day Cal would have had yesterday?

Spot on. The main difference was the midfield held their ground which let the wing backs push up, we won the midfield battle.
Ardley was explicit in his post match interview that we'd played too many games in our own half and not created enough and he changed it.
All the psychobabble is just that.

I don't get how it's psychobabble and an alternative universe on NCM. A lot of posters have been saying all season long that we'd played too many games in our own half and not created enough. Ardley finally recognises it 23 games in, and is applauded for changing things?

Sir Jimmy had a phrase for all of this. He said "the best team always wins, all the rest is just gossip".

NCM it's all 'ifs, buts and made ups'

Can be entertaining but you can't take anything too seriously.

Add a pinch of salt to all your read.

So does a lot of posters saying all season long that we'd played too many games in our own half and not created enough fall into the 'ifs, buts and made ups' category, or is it a logical, rational assessment based on what we've regularly seen before yesterday?

That latter for certain. Identifying issues isn't the tough part of the equation it's the finding solutions that is.

When I saw you had quoted my post I feared that you were objecting to my NCM 'tag line', now that would have been ambitious.

As you know there is an endless supply of 'ifs, buts and made ups' on here #vivaNCM

Of course there is, it's a football messageboard. You would have to be incredibly naive to expect otherwise.
