    That's true.
    I was thinking, "chinny barsteward who liked to mock or patronise Scotland's football team".
    However there were non-chinny barstewards who did and continue to do the same

    1977, bitter after Scotland’s win at Wembley, he girned about the (admittedly over-the-top) vandalism carried out by the Scots fans who broke the goals, and tore up the pitch. This included, “And the unfortunate groundsman is to lose his day off for the Queen’s Jubilee to repair the pitch”

    A letter in one of the papers a couple of days later offered the condolence, “If England was so concerned about its pitch, it wouldn’t have picked carthorses like Mick Mills* to run about on it in the first place”.

    *Mills is now rumoured to have reached the Brecon Beacons in his scouring quest of Great Britain since 1981 trying to find my ex-next door neighbour Peter Weir.

    I was at that game but not part of the pitch invasion.

    I didn't mind Motson.

    I once something about how much effort he put into every game he commentated on, it was a fair old effort.
