If nukes were used we're all screwed anyway, so no point wasting money pretending we're something we are not.

NATO isn’t (exclusively) about nukes though. It’s about an alliance to try to deter unforeseen threats against members, where an attack against one is deemed to be an attack against all.

Fair enough, but you don't need nuclear weapons to be a member.

I don't doubt for one minute that Scotland would remain a member but we can at least stop pretending to rule the world.

I’d rather be in NATO than be a sitting duck in an independent Scotland. Remember the very real concerns of Ukraine’s non-NATO neighbours when Russia came in with their tanks!

I pay scant attention to military matters, but I have read that shootie-gunny, hard-on-for-a-Humvee experts still see north Great Britain, and presumably the Northern Isles, as a key strategic area for offering protection against them pesky commies from the east. The North Atlantic Gap or something. Can the Faeroes nae send out a spare whaler or something?
