Waghorn deal all sorted, Personal terms to be agreed #sufc #twitterblades
He’s the kid who was pictured with Woodburn the day before it was announced. Hopefully it’s gen but as he says, he’s still got to agree terms.

Looks like it's happening then. Surprising.

Sceptical about the fee, but hopefully he'll prove his worth, if he signs.

We'll sign another one after him as well. Wilder's never truthful in his interviews regarding signings - he said we wanted another 2, yet we'll end up with another 4.

And that 4th one will be Jon Nolan IMO. As it looks like Luke Freeman is going nowhere.

IF we do sign him, I think Wilder will see how we go and bring in another loan player if need be before the end of August. He’ll want to have something left in the kitty to improve the squad in January.

I know that mate but if we shell out £5.5m for Waghorn it’ll make a big dent in it. I personally think Chris will stick if we get W except maybe another loan player after he’s assessed the first few games. He’ll then have enough in the kitty to bring in some quality in January if we need to kick on. IMO obviously.

Here's an idea. Why don't we buy some more quality now. It might be worth another 10 points by January...

Here’s another idea. See if the said quality is already there and how individuals we’ve got at the club and brought in are performing in competitive games before blowing most of the budget. And then there’s injuries. If we’d got the wherewithal to bring in a half decent replacement for Coutts last January we may have reached the play-offs of better.

Anyway we’ll soon see which way Chris rolls, but my guess is if we sign Waghorn we’ll not bring in any more big money signings until January. Personally I think we could do with more quality at LWB but if Chris thinks the same after the first few games, he’ll look at the loan market.

I don't mind either way about whether we do or not once Waghorn is over the line. I think we've got quality and resilience everywhere now. Excellent transfer window.

As for Coutts, we'd lost a dozen points by January after his injury, which suggests I might possibly be right* about front loading the squad now while we have the chance.

*Don't tell Mrs FKB..! She's only ever been wrong once. It was that time when she thought she'd made a mistake, but it turned out later she hadn't.

We should be aiming to need no signings in January.
