Thread: ⚽Match Thread vs. Woking FC 15.04.23 [NL]

It really is night and day. It’s come down to the professionalism that the manager brings for me. The old manager, Dowson, was a great guy, wore his heart on his sleeve and truly cared, however, little things like a weekly catch-up where he would seem to give a bit away in terms of what he’s thinking about games etc to him signing the same players constantly that did well at conference south level but we’re not good enough in this league. Even if you look at the Dartford team he’s managing now, I’d say a solid 5 or 6 of those players played for us over the last few years under him and just weren’t good enough. It’s like getting attached to a player on Football Manager and playing him until he retires at the age of 85…

It’s a nice place to be at the moment. We’ve got owners that seem to care, though we don’t hear much of the ‘money man’ as he’s based in the states full time. Whether this money lasts or not I’m not so sure, but I’ll enjoy it whilst it’s here and just hope if it does dry out, it’s not at the risk of the club I love.

I met and spoke to Dowson after one of our games and what you say marries with my experience. Lovely guy, very likable, and very open and honest with this thoughts, couldn't believe how much he spoke to an opposition fan.

Nowt wrong with not hearing much from owners, has worked wonders at Notts, especially if you have a good chief exec. It's when you hear too much from the owner that you need to worry.

Woking_Fan, I was massively impressed with Darren Sarll in the way he made a beeline for John Bostock and shook hands before having a what seemed a decent chat with him. He must have thought, like me that he had just witnessed a masterclass of a midfield display. Hopefully we are out of this league this season, so we won't be battling with you again, as I feel you will be even stronger next season.

Yeah, but did they ever do my favourite Jam song, The Eton Rifles?

Sup up your beer and collect your fags
There's a row going on down near slough
Get out your mat and pray to the west
I'll get out mine and pray for myself
Thought you were smart when you took them on
But you didn't take a peep in their artillery room
All that rugby puts hairs on your chest
What chance have you got against a tie and a crest?
Hello-hooray, what a nice day, for the Eton rifles, Eton rifles
Hello-hooray, I hope rain stops play, with the Eton rifles, Eton rifles

    Genius.

He's mobile and does what he does so well.

Just like starts to a season, you can't judge players too early you need to give them time to acclimatise to their surroundings, improve understanding with new teammates and improve (match) fitness.

Agree depends on opposition to some extent but thinks he's cemented a starting XI spot due to his performances of late and what he brings to the side that's different from others.

It's a very strong squad. Obviously.
I wonder what sort of captain he would make?

I think like Palmer,JOB,Rawlinson would make an excellent captain and they all act like captains on the pitch which is great for us having so many leaders.

Not sure Palmer is vocal enough. He would be my first name on the team sheet but not a captain.
