You and I do not know the truth of the matter so can't really comment until we do. Unless we provide caveats of if this otherwise that... ( they have been asked by the Tories, who they blamed. But won't _

    2. Maybe semantics but he said he wouldn't raise taxes other than the ones set out in the manifesto. They haven't done that. They have merely stopped paying an allowance. No tax has been increased. He said WON'T BE INCREASED. Lets see next month, do you believe him?

    3. I have no idea what new monies he has agreed to pay other countries for "green" issues. Maybe you could enlighten me. Woah, lets get this right. The money was pledged in 2021 at the COP meeting. The point is, if WE AS a nation have a deficit, that money should be going no where. How come, you can clobber pensioners, but send money over seas?

    4. Pay rises. One Rail Trade Union accepted a rise. HMG did get involved and the Blue Tories ensured the dispute went on and on and on. That cost the country a lot of money. There comes a time when reaching a compromise actually saves money. The Red Tory HMG solved the dispute to save money. Now, to get away from what happened and to get to my opinion, HMG, whatever the colour should never have been involved in wage negotiations between Rail staff and the PRIVATE company for whom they work. That the dispute was purely down to HMG getting involved is there for all to see. the companies could and would have compromised IF HMG had allowed them to.

NHS Junior Doctors. Following a 7 year degree course they were working for between £14 and £15 an hour SAVING LIVES. The money they were on was a disgrace. Under the Red Tories, a compromise was reached. Thats not true. they are on salary, The £15 an hour is the unions claiming they work a 70 hour week.
    1. Your reply doesn't address the point I made and appears to be nonsense. Please what they have been asked by the Blue Tories.

    2. You do realise that your word "increase" is a synonym for "raise", don't you?

    3. So we blame the new HMG for honouring a pledge made by the old HMG? That's good for persuading other countries that we can be trusted...

    4. I suppose you can't blame a man for trying, and you are, very. 70 hours a week is less than most, if not all, JD's work. Until changes a while back they were doing 120 a week. Have you any idea what would happen to the NHS if all JD's stopped for the week once they'd hit the 40 hour mark? You really are straw clutching with this one. Going on an 8 hour day and an average of 21 working days a month, £14 per hour gives you a monthly pre tax salary of £2353. After 7 years of training, that's not very much, IMO, especially considering the work they do. I wonder if anybody else on here thinks JD's are wrong to divide their monthly salary by the number of hours worked to arrive at an hourly rate?

So a new low is reached in the U.S. election. Trump has declared that Harris is ‘mentally disabled’. ‘Joe Biden became that way. Kamala Harris is mentally impaired. She was born that way…’ claims the self appointed font of all wisdom.
This from the man who not so long ago was suggesting injecting ourselves with disinfectant as a Covid cure and threw his toys out of the pram in an all time spectacular tantrum when he lost four years ago.
How he can still be considered a viable candidate for election by anyone is completely beyond me, but his attitude and his convictions also go some way to answering MA’s question of ‘what the hell is going on?’
When high profile politicians - a candidate for and former President no less - set such a despicable example is it any wonder that our kids find themselves lost in some sort of ‘moral maze’?

I'm not sure it's two tier policing but it certainly is a worrying example of freedom of speech being limited. Speakers Corner has long been regarded as a safe place for free speech but in her case she would appear to have been once stabbed for expressing views and regularly is intimidated.

She's crossed faiths so has turned against "her own" and this doesn't go down well. She does seem to be provocative in her methods, but one of the historic freedoms of this country is free speech. One might have thought that the police would protect that freedom rather than appeasing the "mob" against her, but it seems expedience ruled out

It is of concern, even to a non believer such as I, that someone preaching the historic core religion of the nation is not permitted to do so at Speakers Corner of all places. I would say the same if the boots were on the other feet. We are a "liberal" country yet this shows how much this has been eroded

Wait a minute, this was a response to comments about Hatun Tash, but now I can't find the post it responds to so it may make less sense

Hmmm…it’s a puzzle, GP. Doesn’t help with the flow, even if TTR’s post was completely irrelevant to the thread.
Can’t help but agree with many of your sentiments in post 1804, although she does appear to go out of her way to be remarkably antagonistic
towards those who we apparently can no longer mention on here.
Anyway I’m expecting you to join the ‘deleted’ club before long…someone’s bored.

No ‘someone’ isn’t bored, someone is trying to make the forum a better place for sensible discussion. I posted a few days ago after lots of pointless too and fro about Islam (including but not quite mainly from yourself) that we’d have an Islam free week and any posts would be deleted. There aren’t that many posts on here and you do seem to read them also or sure how you missed that one
