is it though, is it political or is it common sense and to protect the economy and peoples mental health? IMO the English have got it right, go about your business but be cautious, we cant keep getting lockdowns when new variants arise. f uck me this ones no more deadly than the cold or the flu which wipes out people every year anyway

She is told what to say. She must be pig-sick.
To be fair this is a political disaster for her so fair play for fronting it up and getting on with it.

Let’s see how the next week goes, at least Scot parl is back tomorrow whereas the headlines down south are where’s Boris. It’s a gamble with other peoples lives, absentee figures alone will have an impact on critical services and hospital figures are creeping up again

I’m hoping we can flatten this curve enough in Scotland to open up again next year, and whilst the restrictions are a pain it may be necessary to keep the nhs working and get us through this. Biggest challenge is get everyone boosted

So now we have an annual lockdown because the NHS is underfunded?

Not sure that’s a logical conclusion

No one can predict just now

It’s absolutely logical. The NHS has been stretched to capacity and beyond every winter for decades.

Now NHS approaching capacity is being used as a blanket justification for lockdown//restrictions.

Covid is now an endemic and probably seasonal virus. So if we keep measuring we will see spikes of covid infections every winter. Most likely the virus will become decreasingly severe each year.

But case numbers, regardless of severity, are being used as a blanket justification for lockdowns/restrictions.

So where’s the logic that says this will stop any year soon?
