My take is that its down to money.
I think Shinne was expecting McKenna to go in January, and expected an improved offer on the back impending transfer fee being received.
Now that McKenna hasn't gone, its going to be a free for all in the Summer.
I would expect the huns to have made an offer of terms, and expect them to clear out some of the surplus midfielders that they have. However he would have recognised his best interests are not grabbing the first first offer in January, when Aberdeen ultimately are never going to withdraw their offer
Aberdeen are being weak, or at least lack the confidence that they could bring in a replacement
Or of course it could be a case of the club dragging the arse out of it on purpose and just as the fans are getting themselves in to a state they announce under big fanfare that both are re-signing. Then they can say they pulled out all the stops to keep them and take the credit.
Rodwell is still at Sunderland on a contract worth over 70k a week and he doesn't kick a ball. Watch the Netflix documentary, it's pretty good.
Chest thumping celebrations were great to watch today
Been offered the biggest financial package we have ever made to stay according to radio today. That would be around 8k mark? Sure i heard Hignett was on 7k back in the day
