Generally 6ft 3'' defenders struggle in centre-mid with the foot speed, turning speed, lateral movement needed in the busiest, most congested area of the pitch.

Personally, I hate it and it's a sign of a desperate coach when he throws a central defender into central mid. It's really just another way of getting yet another defender on the pitch to stave off the sack for another month or two

Eddy was Ok, but it was grim when Charlie pushed Thompson into centre-mid
I doubt we'll see it and I think it's a waste of breath saying put DKE/Cameron there. The club have probably got a long list of loan targets for that position should they decide Francis can't do the job to the standard required

It’s crazy that we don’t have one single player of that type at the club, you can only assume that the management don’t think it necessary….and that really is worrying….and even more so that this has been a problem for three years now.

I hope we don’t sleep walk through this season with the same issues that have already been identified.

Here's hoping Vincent makes a good impression when he finally gets his chance in midfield. According to IB he will bring 'a lot' of energy to the party.

I think he played in midfield for Torquay and up front as well, so it’s not an unknown position for him!

As a left footer, we know he played left-mid in that game for tactical reasons, but we were talking about centre-mid.
There's nothing to suggest he's played more than the odd game as a central midfielder.
It's a bad idea. I wouldn't want to lose our best defender by turning him into a misfit midfielder

We need to look for a clone of Paul 'Pitbull' Harding, who made his name at this level. The Liverpool team of the 70's/80's were one of the most renowned passing teams in English football history, but they still had a midfield animal in Graeme Souness.

Souness was the best playmaker of his generation, a superb passer of the ball, a highly skilled, cultured player and totally dominant.
That other side of his game alone wouldn't have got him very far in those Liverpool teams.
Jimmy Case and Tommy Smith too - skilful players first and foremost

A new Paul Harding type would do just nicely . ! There must be some knocking around the lower leagues as this is evidently what the leagues are made from !!
Radar go get 'em . failing that have we got any scouts searching high and low for us !? Or go and have a word with Warnock and see if his scouts have identified some gems that would suit a non league club as opposed to a championship side !

Do you think that our owners are actually showing any ambition to get us promoted?

I do but within their own Budget and Remit. I don't think they are being bullied or pressured into adopting the 5h17 or bust method that Stockport , Wrexham or chesterfield have adopted and I for one am glad.
I said this the season we went down ( in fact well before we went down but got pilloried for it) we as a club need to invest in coaching , nurturing our own , or spotting young talent else where and coaching them to fulfil their potential. Ok the way we play was/is sometimes over adventurous and open to mistakes in dangerous areas and counter attacks, but I would rather we have this approach than say the Ardley one where we treated to one maybe two chances a game if we were lucky, being dominated by nobodies.
IB is work in progress as is the club , IB needs to be able to adapt his approach and I'm sure will be more fluid in his approach the longer he is here and the more his squad evolves.
I believe this club will be promoted , maybe not this season but I would say within the next three.

Do you believe the club is not showing ambition in getting promoted ? if not why not ?
