Not disputing your point, but L2 strikers that are clinical rarely exist. Jatta?s stats came up pre game on Sky? scored 19 L2 goals but had an XG of over 24?. That would suggest to me he should be on 30 plus goals as I?m not aware of any goal being XG of 1? a penalty is .8 and he doesn?t take them.
As for the game last night. I thought we were the better side and deserved more? it?s telling that Sky gave there keeper MoM.
I thought the ref got most fouls etc right, however, is card distribution was appalling. He was booking there players for totting up fouls, which IMO is a hindrance on how we want to play. SM was going ballistic about certain players getting fouled every time they got the ball.
I?m not gonna talk about there goal, it was soft as ****.
The players have got to believe in being able to pull it back from here?
Stewie post match.

[QUOTE=NottsNotCounty;40704501. First half should have seen Jones and Austin be switched as neither were impacting the game and it was crying out for somebody to take the full backs on around the outside.
Please SM if we start Jones and Austin next game then start them on their correct sides where Jonss won best player of the division and Austin had his best form in a Notts shirt before his injury.[/QUOTE]

So it turned out one goal separated the sides as many predicted and the irony of it coming from a Nottingham born player and former Forest academy graduate in Riley Harbottle.
As for our style of play we know what it is and I thought second half we played with tempo, intent and intensity. We have to deal first and foremost with the league two stuff because thats how teams like Wimbledon and Salford have got the better of us this season by doing league two things such as being physical, a bit ugly, dark arts and a bit rough and tumble.
I think blaming SM for the result last night is harsh. We had the four big chances to score but as has been the case so many times this season weve not taken our chances. Grant will need picking up after those missed opportunities, and JJ hit the post.
Lets remember in the playoff semi final against Boreham Wood we missed two good chances first half from Rodrigues and Baldwin had a couple of attempts yet we went in at half time 2-0 down. Baldwin then scored early in the second half and for me Grant could be the key that unlocks Wimbledon along with JJ, or a moment of Didzy magic. If we can get an equaliser in the first twenty minutes then anything is possible especially with us being away from home.
The second half script is there to be written for someone to step up and get us going and be a hero like Baldwin and JJ were against Boreham Wood.
This contest is far from over.
The morning after, and in a more calm mood I relect on yesterday and the season. It's not over yet, our away record gives us a chance. Do I feel it though.? Not at all. Firstly the red, in today's game it is. It's two footed with stoods showing. The fact it's a clean tackle and the pathetic over reaction from the Dons man makes it hard to take. However the shirt pull in the first ace causes Jatta to be fraction kate too. Its another piece of poor reffing in the first action. Grants three chances are firstly an excellent save, secondly a tap when it needed a whack and third, unfortunate that it fell to him and not a real finisher.
Yesterday showed one thing overall, that we must address to some portion. We do not do the dark arts enough. Their goal comes from a man coming in unmarked because Platt is literally shirt pulled out the way. It's a foul. We don't complain anyway, Platt just puts his hands up in despair. I'm certain that if that's the other way then Wimbledon are chasing the ref. Does it change the decision?, no, but it puts doubt in his mind, it concentrates him to thinking it may be a wrong call. All season we have accepted decisions while seeing opposition doing exactly the opposite. I dont care who does the moaning, it doesn't have to be a loud captain, although Palmer certainly isn't what a captain should be overall, but any player can at least stand up and let the ref know he's messed up.
I feel yesterday summed up the second half of our season. Too nice, loose balls not rolling our way, missed chances, missing Crowley, tactically inept at wing backs especially, and another final point. Since Saunders left there's been a change. So many questions that I and we as fans don't have the answer too but the owners do. Why has the high press not carried on at the same level. Why no experience bought in to help Maynard. Did Maynard not even want the help anyway. Have the owners held back on that decision because they aren't sure Maynard is the one to take us forward. Exactly how much of our playing style, confidence and form fell away because of Saunders leaving. No doubt some will have different views to me, be interested to see the response. It's doesn't matter if Saunders had to go or whatever the reason, it's what's happened since that has raised the questions. In my humble opinion, next Saturday is too big a climb, and I feel a big freshen up is needed . Starting with the manager. And I dont normally go round asking for sackings. But tactically we have been mastered, conned and out witted too many times and it's cost us.
