....so not sure if I should respond if you are not - HOWEVER for the benefit of stan I will. There is a difference in censoring a view (as much as we'd maybe like to) and asking people to (self) censor phrases that stray into that which is legally (nowadays) hate speech / crime and whilst i doubt anyone is petty enough to go running to the police - it shouldn't even be something that could happen as many other wittier put downs are surely available!
Putting my old bore hat on, I remember the old AFC discussion mailing list (circa '93 when I joined) was pretty well mannered and things all went a bit pear shaped when it was replaced by various web forums... ho hum
overstepped the line and rightly rebuked. Personally, I'm not up nor down with words on the internet, but if posters are getting pulled up on "hate speech" whether fellow fan or an opponent there needs to be a consistency with folks comments.
...that's easy - just avoid anything insulting based on race, religion (although police Scotland would never have the manpower for that one - why certain other boards aren't shutdown is another discussion), ****ual preference* or disability to avoid hassle... not too hard surely!
Anything else is pretty much free game (and there's tonnes left!) like various suggestions of alcoholism ...
