They've threatened benefits crackdowns as long as I can remember yet they're more generous now and easier to get onto than they've ever been. 13 years of Tory Austerity ma ****ing hole, the Tories done nothing but make benefits even more generous.

In my opinion people who are receiving long term benefits should also be carrying out voluntary work. That would help encourage them to try get paid work.

Over 15 years ago there was a GP on Islay who discovered a novel way to keep the unemployment figures lower. Put patients on long term sickness benefit. This worked until the GP went on holiday and a locum GP took over. He immediately told patients that there was nothing wrong with them and he signed them off as fit for work. These patients were desperate for their GP to return so that they could return to living ‘the good life’ paid for by the U.K. taxpayers.
There are bound to be lots of other people who are receiving long term sickness benefits despite having nothing wrong with them. You see it all the time on TV programmes such as ‘Claimed and Shamed’ where people are making out that they suffering from long term illnesses which are a figment of their imagination. Backache is one of the most common causes of long term sickness benefits claims.

We are busted. One Nation Tories care more about bribing non Tory voters and Labour is pretending to be better at delivering Tory policies than the Tories. Still both are better than Marxist Greens. SNP need to stop being solely focused on independence as their overall policy. Tell Scotland that they recognise the futility of independence and realise for example that Parti Quebecois are doing OK as part of Canada, so why not have SNP in Westminster helping to guide that Parliament?

Not sure I agree that malingerers are really the problem. I think that everyone is thinking that there is a work life balance that can deliver the same economic benefits to them whilst working fewer hours. Working from home is a disaster. We are living in a fantasy land where people genuinely think they are delivering the same level of service as if they were at their place of work. Chatbot and AI will soon put everyone who relies on the Internet for their employment on the scrap heap. I'm fed up arguing with computers over energy bills and stuff. I fear the future is bleak for grumpy old gits like me.

Data protection cannot possibly be as secure when folk are working from home.

I think there's a day in everyone's life when they realise they ain't immortal and are gonna die.

Some folk it comes far too late and I reckon millions go to their grave with regrets of what they cuda shuda done.....when they were healthy enuff to do it.

Wish I had a job where it was rewarding not just in monetary terms but also felt fulfilled.....if you have that your lucky.

I just thought work got in the way of life and planned to get out as soon as I cud from mid 20s.

If you have anything where you have to take regular medication and are prepared to exaggerate what impact this has on your life, you have a better than evens chance of getting awarded a Scottish adult disability payment.

I'd have to double check this but if there's a fraudulent claim in Scotland I think the maximum they chase you for now is £5k

Have to disagree on your WFH thoughts. Most meetings are done on Teams these days so it makes no difference whether you're sitting in your home office or at a desk at work - in fact if you work in an open office, as most office workers do, there are clear benefits to be working in a home environment.

The work / life balance improvements that three days in the office and two days WFH have brought me and others at the company I work for have been immense. There has been no drop off in productivity and we're all much happier.

I'd say that your firm would be in the minority

Most work from home public sector are paid to fanny about
