If you follow MikeSB line of thought then the academy is a gamble by spending a large sum each year and hoping for a return in 10-15 years down the line . Could the money be better spent in the short term on the 1st team ? . I see Huddersfield have done away with there academy as they feel it cannot produce players for the premiership and we seem to be having the same discussion on this site. The board are the only ones who can change things , nearly 30 years ago they were brave and backed DG in his vision. Its time to have a new vision I think as football has moved on a lot in that time .
