Agreed. Many supporters underestimate the importance of squad players at low cost. No chance should we be selling the likes of Longstaff who, whilst frustrating and below the level we aspire to reach, is an important cog in the NUFC machine.

Almiron would be top of my list to move on but rumours are that he is refusing to entertain the idea. I’d also look at one of Wilson or Trippier - not both. Their experience is needed in the dressing room but both are passed their peak. Dubravka I would let go. We might get a couple of million for him if we’re lucky.

I’d also listen to offers for Willock. Very useful on his day but he’s beginning to look a sicknote. If we can’t move him on, I’d consider a half-season loan for Anderson who has stagnated in his development slightly. I’d also loan Miley out for experience.

Absolutely, Divock Origi is a Champions League winner.

There are many examples of bang average players making a winning team winners.

However, that level of average player is 'Average top 4 player'. The level of 'average player of a lower half Prem team' is a massive drop off from the 'Average top 4 player'.

Longstaff fit is capable of being a contributor for a top 4-6 team as proven in the season before last. Miggy, Wilson, Targett are players we need to shift along with Jamal Lewis and the rest of the dross that doesn't feature in the match day squad first.
