Always been critical of him and still don't think he's a Premier League player anymore, but you can't fault his effort.

Well played, hope he keeps it up

That position..next to Noble suits his strengths.

Wasted wide or at full back.

He'll be back on the wing next week

I loved it when he was holding Noble's shoulders and was pleading with Allardyce not to take him off, it worked because he took of Nolan.

The Italian looked good on the ball when he got it , I bet he thought what the **** have I let myself in for

championship player these days but better utilised as a midfield battler than anywhere else. fair play to him, two superb performances of late.

If playing him in the "grind out a point" games* enables us to get a point here or there, or even in games we must win at home** to enable Noble, Morrison or Nocerino to play; I wouldnt object. He is showing the right kind of attitude.

My unofficial points accumulator, ok with C+B specs on, gets us to 41 points :

*Need to win, all at Home:
    Swansea, Norwich, Palace, Hull, Southampton

    ** Grind out a point:
Liverpool (home), spuds (home), West Browm (away), Sunderland (away), Stoke (away), Villa (away)

Cant see us getting anything V Everton, Arsenal or City away

Maybe less than 40 points will be enough this year, with so much congestion...if you say it quickly enough it doesnt sound too difficult, and with returning players, hopefully a solid defence now as with last night.

agree that his blocked shots & overall work rate were outstanding(as were most last night). But lost count of how many times he was wasteful in midfield. You better fling your body at the ball when you making more passes to blue shirts than your own team. Very wasteful play and part of the reason we had to defend most of the match.

Nolan and Taylor are our worst culprits in the ball give away syndrome imo, Carlty knows also knows how to turn attack into defence as well.

Nocerino coming on at the end was a good move by BFS. Even though he was only on for 10 or 15 minutes, he actually passed the ball out rather than just lump it forward aimlessly like most of our other players.

Carlty is often completely isolated up front with 2 or 3 defenders surrounding him. It's difficult to keep the ball like that.
