    re: Such a positive piece

makes me laugh when everyone agrees it ain't pretty but how dare you comment on that fact

    on a football forum

to ask for a bit more at some stage is somehow wrong apparently

so we can't comment as we're in the sh1t?

in the sh1t with a sh1t football manager busting the club transfer record twice recently, so we shouldn't really be in the fu(king sh1t should we? that's why people want a bit more ... we ain't funded like wimbledon back at plough fu(king lane we're funded to mid-table security (where we finally got v norwich)

but it's still pretty sh1t stuff to watch and like blackpool at wembley, second best team won v norwich

i think it's right to demand more as a club that has at least mostly tried to play football the right way or we enter the blender with the bland (unts over the decades

it means something to me that the neutral views us as a football playing team like they do liverpool or even spuds who won't drop everything for a quick points fix and i respect that. i respec

I'm with Hammerman. This board nowadays is pretty much a handful of people, plus one ginger troll, telling each other how sh1t it all is. Enjoy.

    Whu,

Your John Lyall analogy is interesting, considering he relegated us twice, during his reign. How long do you think he would have lasted in today's internet environment?

During the second relegation season, we were dire, and our wonderful pre-internet days fans, helped in no small measure to hound him out.

Throughout this clubs history we have broken record transfer fees.

Johnny Byrne 65K (well it was a long time ago)
Alan Stephenson 85k (I know, I know Alan Stephenson, stop laughing at the back)
Phil Parkes 650K (from memory, and also a world record for a keeper, again from memory)

Take a look at the 3rd goal FA Cup semi-final, Moore long pass to Hurst, probably some on here would call it hoofball in today's world. Pretty much repeated in the world cup final as well.

For those with short memories in the 50 years a fan bracket. We used to hit Hurst quickly, who played most of his career with his back to goal, often stated he wished the ankle/heel protectors had been around, d

Agree that post B. As discussed the other night.
We've always mixed it up with clever passing but it's delusional to think we've never hit a target man and gone for winning the second ball.

Maybe we hoof it a bit sometimes from the back, because the players aren't there/affordable to do any different.

Sam's tactics on the whole don't sit well with me at all. But, he always said we would be different with our back four fit and AC up top.

He's not my bag at all, but he's been proved right as we stand.

    Kirkup

Quote whatever you want mate, you are a friend and a top bloke.

But you will never convince me that any three season period of John Lyalls reign was as dire as the last three under this (unt. Even most supporting Allardyce do it on every other level apart from the quality of 'football'. The very of the game we follow and love.

Even if a debate started on this issue (which I doubt) John would have been given far more time to 'try' to improve the situation if things were tough. He tried to play the game the right way. He spoke with tremendous affection about the way the game should always at least be attempted to be played. He was an honest man. A humble man. A man who you could clearly see, loved this club, loved it's supporters and hated letting any of the above down.

The current manager has no kore affection for this club than the day he walked in. Does act like he does? Does he talk like he does? No.

I just find it astonishing how many accepted this bloke. None of us

Can't disagree with any of that. But you were at the game at Anfield (Lyall's last) and so you will remember the downright vile abuse the man got. And as Kirkup said that was a long time before the cyber warriors came on the scene.

Can't disagree with that either. But what manager today does have affection

BFS is a very hard man to love, he appears to have no redeeming quality's or humility whatsoever. Even Redknapp divides opinions, you either love him or you hate him. Allardyce . . . . . . . you either hate him or you tolerate him.

Mourinho is probably just as arrogant as Sam but he has a sense of humour and can be charming which takes the edge off a bit.

Clough had a very high opinion of himself and was a bit of a c.unt but he was extremely intelligent and great viewing.

Far too often we get close to signing a player yet they meet Sam and decide not to bother even though wages and medical have already been done.

Personally I hate the guy and the Milky Bars are on me the day he leaves and any infinite number of Andy Carroll heading the ball down for Nolan to run onto type goals will not change my mind.

That point hit home here Bonz.

It's the fear of "what else we'll have" that keeps me relatively loyal to Allardyce.

We're in danger of becoming "grateful" just for Premiership survival. Not a good thing.

If we finish top 10 this year... I will still find it hard to suggest a replacement that's "viable" to be picked by the current board.
Look at all the other "great" teams performing in the Premier League???? Where are they outside of the top ten ??
