I'd describe him as a young middle-order batsman being moulded into an opener, but only to get bored with cricket

Buxton for me. His turnaround from being the laughing stock of the team to being the rock has been bettered only by Mitchell Johnson (sorry to mention that debacle but the cricket analogies prompted it)
Bryson wouldn't have anywhere near as many goals or assists in my opinion if it wasn't for Martin. Martin is THE key man for the style we play. He's got more goals+assists (25) than Bryson (23) as well.
No doubt that Martin has the stats return so far of a very good championship striker, but Craig Bryson has the stats return of a very good championship striker too, yet he plays in midfield. Thats what gets him it for me.Originally Posted by DCFC95
My player of the season is Buxton so far but all can change.
Here's a nice little song for our hero Buko ..
Ho, ho, ho
It's magic you know
Jake Buxton and Keogh
It's magic, you know
Never believe, it's not so ...![]()
Currently...
1st- Martin. For me he's our single most important player. All our attacking play and slick passing moves around the box seem to involve him. He's a leader, which a lot of fans will miss, and makes the right decisions when they really matter. A couple of penalty misses won't change my mind thatb he's beene our best player this season.
2nd- Buxton. His leadership and current play puts him here. His improvement also plays a part.
3rd- Bryson. He was first for me until after Christmas, but since I think he's tailed off a bit. He's had knocks and he needs a rest for me. Still, a fantastic season from him.
4th- Hughes. I like a lot of what sheeeep posts on here, clearly knows what he's on about, but have to completely disagree with him regarding Hughes being one of our poorer players. He was instrumental to our best play early on, and really shone in games vs. Wednesday and Leeds at home, as well as Wigan away. He's stepped up since his rest, and has been better tha
funny enough I was just thinking about this the other day.
I agree with most of what's been said. very close run thing between bucko, Bryson and martin. it may well come down to who's in form in the last 5 games or so.
personally I don't think Bryson and martin have been on great form for a little while now. not that they're playing bad - just not as unplayable as the first half of the season.
so if I had to vote today it would probably be buckenbaur but too close to call.
can't see beyond those 3. they've all been brilliant.
I still favour my selection from last year, which, for those who cannot recall, was Connor Doyle. Moving on, as he did, did a great favour to our team and he has also actually scored a goal in the MLS.
Its also interesting that he only seems to play for teams that are anagrams of his initials:
Derby County
DC United
Colorado /(Denver) Rapids
OK it isn't actually remotely interesting, just an observation.
Interestingly i had a look on the burnley site recently and they are voting for the 3 best champianship players (non burnley) currently. The only players i saw from the rams were hughes and rather surprisingly Keogh, no mentions for bucko or bryson. I guess they aren't getting the headlines. Anyway i haven't seen enough of us this year to have a fair opinion but i really hope buxton wins it.
