Filth is a decent enough watch, but I went into it with higher expectations than the film delivered. Alright, but it ain't no Trainspotting.

What do you think the problem was? From the trailers I've seen McAvoy plays the character like a caricature rather than a gritty, real character.Originally Posted by DannyBhoy
I thought McAvoy was great in it, Welsh's books are about charicatures from what I can make out, couldn't fault the guy anyway & I'm not his biggest fan by any stretch.
Rebus was fantastic, Ken Stott was perfect for the part. The books by Ian Rankin are well worth reading as wellOriginally Posted by WangOneIn

Yeah, he's great.
Where is the underpass at the beginning of the film? I thought it might be the one between Dalry Road and Fountainbridge. Could be glasgow as well I guess.

But in saying that I really enjoyed it, 2nd watch was better. They pulled off both films, ecstasy on the other hand was a f*cking disgrace in comparison to the book![]()
Rebus was brilliant and was far better than Taggart. Ken Stott (good Jambo) is a great actor and suited the role perfectly.

Yes, he is quite cartoony in his portrayal of Robertson.
I'm not saying it's a bad film, it's definitely worth a watch, but there is no comparison between that and Trainspotting.
