i remember the directors stopped him entering the ground and he was on the radio in a portacabin ootside

the sellik regime back then was shocking, nepotism nearly killed the club

Such a fantastic concept for a rich fan of a football club tae come in and say from day one that in 5 years time that club would be in a stable financial condition, be competing for trophies, have the crowds back and be run for the benefit of all shareholders. All it was tae take was the fans themselves digging deep and allowing wee Fergus tae hop on a jet plane with a very decent amount of cash for his 5 years of trouble. Will be at Celtic Park tomorrow just as I was the game after the rebels won and when we opened the new Paradise against Newcastle. ...

Was in the main stand for years after we returned from Hampden, now behind the goal in the Lisbon Lions Stand.

My favourite Fergus story was the one Andy Walker told about him being given a Selik top from the club shop for his press conference when he came back to sign for them. He opened his first pay slip and wee Fergus had docked him 30 quid for the top.

Aye a belter fae Fergus and he didn't endear himself to many of the players...the wee man called them all employees of Celtic Football Club and couldn't comprehend how any fitba player was worth A£10k per week...he was probably correct as usual.

Why did he get booed when unfurling the league flag? I genuinely don't know...

Wee Fergus was booed by a section of the Celtic Support who thought he was responsible for the departure of Championship winning manager Wim Jansen and for his reluctance to match Rangers in the transfer market and paying players wages.

It was the days of the crass and arrogant Murray stating "For every five pounds Celtic spend, we will spend ten."
