You're spot on if you're sticking to city pubs southside or west end. They're used to having plenty of passing faces etc.

I'd feel less comfortable anywhere east or North or anywhere in the middle of the schemes eg. Pollok Inn, Centaur Bar, Easterhouse etc.
It's Govan you're from, Wang, isn't it?
Well, Ibrox/Cessnock to be a bit more precise.

    I'd drink anyw

I know where you are. I told you before my mate stayed in a gaff at on Howatt Street, so we used to head in to the Old Govan arms on occasion, and the pool hall further along the street. Is the pool hall still there?

That was jailbait on a Friday or Saturday night.

Pool hall is still there. never been in it.

Old Govan Arms seems to be a real republican shop with fundraising nights for the IRA band Martin doco Doherty. Never been in it.

20 min walk and I can be in the west end. Would rather drink there or the town than local.

Old Govan Arms wasn't like that years ago, in fact, there was never anyone in it to raise funds for the till never mind anyone else.

Do you not just jump the subway to Hillhead or the toon rather than walk?

The Centaur has never been a rough hole, nor has Griers, the only dodgy one in Easterhouse was the Casbah, but thats gone now, as for Tollcross road, i never really found any dodgy ones.

Surely the rules are the same in most cities, steer clear of boozers in housing estates (unless you live there), along with any which don't have windows or any with a bloke standing outside having a snout whilst brandishing a machete
