i remember the draw was done in december 1981 so us being paired with argentina wasnt relevent at the time as the falklands war hadnt yet started.

i still think both the argentine and british government made huge mistakes in the handling of this war.

argentina could have esculated the war and gained an advantage, albeit maybe a short lived one, but as they were the aggressors it was in their interest to complete the job, so by surrendering they betrayed their own military and people.

and britain left the island unguarded in the first place despite argies making noises about taking it back.
