I know a few drummers who can't speak highly enough about this crowd, have a great reputation on the local scene.

Rhythm Base, have a look. - view external link

That looks decent and I noticed two of my drummer mates on pusbook 'like' it, neilo.

You generally find the folk who work in specialist shops of any kind are very helpful and informative.

Drumming isnae like playing the guitar. You can either do it or you can't (everybody can get to beginner/intermediate level on the guitar - look at me!).

I would try to get him on a drum-kit at school or something before you spend a few ***dred quid on one. Kids give things up pretty quick if they can't do something and you don't want to be stuck with a A?350 electronic drum-kit.

Playing drums isn't like any other musical instrument.

If your lad is playing at school and getting on okay, then that's a good sign.

Mook (my twin brother) is a great drummer and I can't play drums worth a f*ck.

Don't think I took music after first year. They don't really encourage creativity.

Aye, took up the bass when I was 15 and bought my first guitar at 19.

Had one lesson on the bass and one lesson on the guitar and that's it (both off mates). Best learning process is to play with other musicians.
