I wondered the exact same thing JR as I read about all the re-signings. Continuity is good, but you also have to guard against staleness as well, and any football squad benefits from a decent freshen up each season.
Lyle is the obvious one that I would have let go - a good servant, but taking up a ***** place in the squad that a new, pacey striker could fill.
Getting a striker and a keeper sorted out quickly(big Zander hopefully)will be McIntyre's priority and then a left midfielder and we wont be far away.

I am relatively happy Lyle is still in the squad but at age 33 I can understand the other side of the argument.

At the end of the day it has been confirmed that this loyal servant to Queens is to have what looks like to be one final season with us, so lets get behind him. At least he's getting an exciting one with The Rangers, Hearts and maybe Hibs. Im sure he'll be up for it.

Just want to say categorically that I am not anti Lyle , not in the slightest . He is our most successful player ever in medals won and technically gifted with a football brain as well . As Aldoniti said , is someone that is only effective now for say third to half a game worth keeping over signing a fresh legged player , one that can have an impact from the start ?

Have to laugh at some comments writing off Lyle for playing in the Championship at 33! He's in tremendous shape and probably has 3-4 years at this level.
