spain should have stuck to thier guns and wore thier traditional red/blue kit.

holland might have had to change to blue top/white shorts.

thats probably what would have happened in a previous tournament.

but fifa today would see that as both teams not having a predominantly light or dark kit, so they wont accept it.

fifa should get their priorities right.

    From Betfair:

"The key rule that caused the cascade of uniform changes is FIFAa€™s rule against having both teams wearing their light kits or dark kits, rather than one in each.
Spain was the first team listed on FIFAa€™s site, giving them uniform selection rights similar to being the home team. They chose their usual all-red uniform.
But the Netherlands' usual uniform is orange, which is too close to red and could cause confusion.
The Netherlands' away uniform is blue. But if the Netherlands played in blue, both countries would be wearing their dark kit.
Spaina€™s alternative kit is all black, which would return the teams to the same issue of similar colours.
So Spain had a third uniform designed in the lead up to the game.
FIFA has extensive uniform guidelines, designed to a€œenhance the sport through aesthetic creativity and designa€ that are set out in a 92-page Equipment Regulations booklet.
The guidelines lay out rules on everything from a four colour limit to the length of the

Do they still have the daft rule that the shirts and shorts have to be the same colour?

Was there not a game at Pittodrie where both Aberdeen & Celtic wore their away kits?

I wasn't sure what team to support that day.

I think Rangers wore their away strips at Aberdeen to get them shown (so more punters buy them).

the shorts and shirts dont have to be the same colour.

but they have to both be light or dark, not a combination of both.

argentina and germany have had to change their traditional black shorts to white as a result to blend in with their light coloured tops.

its a joke rule, which will probably catch on at uefa, the english fa, the sfa etc in the future.

Argentina and Germany won't look like themselves in white shorts.

    It's ridiculous!

You're quite right Brither Swaaadon min. We should know our history...

I do remember Rangers at Pittodrie in a white kit - as Woland says, all about sales & revenue.
