    I'm going to the WWI sites in August. I'll be there on the 100th anniversary of the declaration of war.

    My grandpa was wounded and a great uncle died of wounds, I'll be visiting his grave.

    I don't think people of our generation will ever understand the bravery of these men.

    Absolutely. Neither their bravery or their unquestioning trust of those in authority.

    Assurances like "It'll be over by Christmas"
    or "We're fighting for the freedom of small nations".

    They were fighting because of a spat between empires and they felt that the spilling of some Duke's blood was sufficient to kick off the carnage on a monstrous scale.

    The unquestioning sacrafice of those extremely brave men on the ground from all sides is mind-boggling by today's standards
