A nice touch by the club, my Grandmothers two brothers Fred and Bert saw service with Royal Artillery (Portsmouth Battery). Bert never came back and I'm proud that his is on Portsmouth's war memorial. Well done to the PSS.

Clearly the shirt (as a Saints fan) is hideous but the sentiment is spot on. Well done to whoever came up with that idea.
Have to say thankyou.
At last, we lose those silly flashes and stars that have plagued many shirts in the past.
A plain, Pompey blue shirt with the badge we have all craved for.
The centenarys of the dead from Portsmouth and local areas embroided on the shirt was a fantastic idea and gesture and has been received by the fans Very well from all clubs.
Anyone have grandfathers or Great grandfathers on the shirt in remembrance?
Mine was in the RN. Great Grandad was a gunner on the Iron Duke at Jutland. Won't be on the shirt but a Pompey fan just the same.
Nearly - my Great Uncle William's is in there - he was killed on the French/Belgian border in Feb 1917Originally Posted by theyak2
Great comments from fans of other clubs. The saints fans in particular-classy stuff.
My Grandad fought in WW1, he fought & was badly hurt @ Gallipoli. Then back to the Western Ft. He had already joined before the war so was still in @ its end & volunteered in 1920ish to fight for the White Russians against the commies. (he was a commited socialist).
They made them differently back then.
Sounds like he liked a fight Gun.![]()
Have a look at Bladd's post on SM for a taste of what the brave cyber warrior gets up to today. Precious little class on there I'm afraid.
But hey, we're hated worldwide apparently so anything goes.
Take no notice of the w a n k e r s over there Corky, leave em to stew in their own juice.
1stly have to point out that my Grandad wasn't a Pompey Pal. He originated from Brighton.
Just doing his duty as he saw it Mate. Lovely old bloke he was, he put his family 1st before his fledgling political career because the Trade Union's wanted him on the 1922 Commitee but it would've meant being away from family so he jacked it in.
When I joined the Mob & he heard I was going to the Middle East he took me to one side & said "never trust an arab". Died in 1988-RIP.
