    Connolly actually joined the British Army when he was a teenager and it was his experiences stationed in Ireland that when he returned to Scotland he got involves in politics being a firm believer in social justice, working class unity against sectarianism and the right of self determination. He was also once voted one of the 100 greatest Britons. A great man he was who died standing up for what he believed in.

    Now that the referendum campaign is over it is good to see that the level of political discourse am.ongst the intelligentsia on this board has risen above the petty squabbling that dominated the debate prior to the vote.
