Muff Diving Club was set up in the late 1980s and has been one of the oldest and 'most successful diving clubs in Ireland'. Attractive perks for members include dives at Malin Head Wrecks. - view external link

and the score scorers attendance Oh smartie pants
Wolves won 3-1. They were second in the old First Div and Arce were third at the time but Arce went on to win the league and Wolves ended up second. Dennis Westcott was top scorer for Wolves that season so I assume he was in the goals They also played Arce a few days later at the same venue in the 4th round of the FA Cup and lost 2-1. A crowd of 61,267 watched the match - the second ever highest attendance at the ground. Lovedean was ref.
Those were the days. Cash turnstiles and small pocket programmes.![]()
YI went to Wolves a few times in the late 60s early 70s...always a bit of a scary experience in those days. When the pointy stand was knocked down the new stand was built about 50 yds( or so it seemed) from the pitch. Eventually when the other stands were rebuilt the pitch was moved. Never enjoyed going there much preferred Baggieland at the Hawthorns.
What's all this talk of Muff on a footie forum BTW ?
I think it was called the John Ireland stand then? I sat there for a very badly terrible awful 0-0 draw. Lucky we were miles from the action. I think Dazzler Anderton played in that game. John Richards for Wolves? Ah memories of Molineux. Always snows there even in summer. Wooly Bully by Sam the Sham at ht.![]()
I was there once.and they had a clapping song played as the players entered...must try to identify that one
I remember listening to a 2.2 league draw there on the radio Sat 30th Dec 1995. Not many games were played that day due to snow. I was driving up to Northwood and was amazed any games were on. Deon and Jimmy Carter were our scorers that cold, snowy afternoon when we were under Fenwick's stewardship.I saw the 1.1 draw in our promotion to the PL season there on a Wednesday November evening. Merse put us 1 up early in the 2nd half but Dean Sturridge equalised 6 mins later. A Wolverhampton thug hit one of our fans after the game for no reason other than he was wearing Blue and White. I and others offered to be witnesses but our fan declined and staggered off just wanting to get away. I've never been back and doubt if I ever will.
And yet the people of Wolverhampton/Black Country are amongst the friendliest you can meet when you are out and about. As are Liverpool. I think it is something to do with football.![]()
