No we were not we were 9th on 22 point having played all the sides in the top six positions except blackpo who were 4th at that point!!!

This season we are joint 5th (would have been 6th but for a late Bolton consolation goal) and on 26 points having only played 1 side in the top six.

So that's a fail on that one swale! But those are the facts.

Looking at it in that context we were in a better position last year with those hard games out of the way. It's going to be very very hard with the fixtures to be at the same point we were last Christmas on paper!!!!

I'm purely stating the fact and not an opinion so if you feel wound up and annoyed by it than don't shoot

Well said although if no one replied to Rats tedious posts then he may change the record.
It's obvious to all that things are better at the club than they have been for years.
Clough football apart from a couple of purple patches was boring.
The negativity around the club when Clough was in charge was terrible, attendances are well up, the football is far better today.
Even if we struggle for a few games we know we will sooner or later hit some form.
We are a very good team and will be near or at the top of the league at the end of the season.

Rats may be controversial but there is a part of his stance that I agree on.

I said this pre season by the way, so it's not just because we've lost the last two. Last season we struggled against sides that parked the bus, made life difficult and tried to hit us on the break. The obvious ones are Wigan and Millwall but Bournemouth very nearly got a point off us at home before a dubious free kick award that was superbly converted by Martin. QPR did it to us in the final.

Basically, if we are good enough to be a top 2 side, which most people seem to think we are or should be, then we should be able to overcome most sides that get in our face and try to stop us playing. My concern pre season was that we simply weren't good enough to play ourselves out of those types of games and there would inevitably be more of them this season than there was last.

The signings in the summer didn't say to me that we'd be any better at coping with this league than we were last season, although Thorne wa

Fair post Ramondo but I still argue the point that last season we were entertaining especially beating Brentford 5-0 and Millwall away 5-1 which we've failed to beat since.

The seasons of rebuilding have blinded many.

The sudden spin and PR that followed the change in mangement helped in this and constant digs by certain members of the club to say how things had improved were not accidental.

There are quite a few saying its boring this season. Again thats all perceptions but on results alone there isnt really an improvement and unless we have some great form against the top teams there is a real danger of decline!

Not wishing to get embroiled in a debate which will only be answered with time and matches, money aside, would you really want to be in the premiership looking at how the 3 promoted teams are doing?

Can honestly say I have very little time for Prem football.

I don't watch it, I prefer the lower leagues from the Championship downwards. It just seems a little bit more real.

However, there has to be a point in playing, there has to be a goal, otherwise there is no point. And our goal is to get promoted, so that's what I want us to do. Once promoted, a teams goal us to stay up.

Out of the three that went up, I hope Burnley stay there. The other two over-spenders can spiral into non-league fir all I care. But like anyone, if we go up then we have to realise the odds are against us and the most likely scenario is that we would come back down again.

But as long as you don't overspend, you should be able to come down in a much stronger financial position to have another go.

Too quick to try and find fault as usual rat.

He clearly states 2nd Nov and is correct Fact. No need to put in capitals.

You are measuring 15 games. Try and keep up

Ha Ha Rat you are not a Clough fan. You can argue facts all day long (although you should get your facts right before using them in your defence). I certainly do not listen to PR from the club, I've been watching football long enough to know when a club is on the up. Mclaren did a tremendous job in getting us to Wembley. We did have some luck along the way but YOU MAKE YOUR OWN LUCK IN FOOTBALL.
We started the season favourites for promotion and having started the season hesitantly seemed to start to pick up some good results, although performances were not great. Hit top of the table and all seemed well. Since then two poor performances have resulted in defeats.
So we are fifth but could be top again on Tuesday night.
Our team is probably on a par with last seasons but Mclaren has a full season to get us promoted.
Bamford and Wisdom were not available so could not be signed, end of debate.
Nigel had several seasons at the club and couldn't achieve what Mclaren achieved in less than

The other daft rattyfact is that we achieved the same result v Millwall ie showed no improvement when those who actually went to the game can clearly remember that whereas we lost last season we drew this season. That to me is a fundamentally different and improved result.

A "rattyfact" something adopted by the delusional as based on truth but having no basis in reality.
