Fair to say that Martin was unable to play himself into the game, but also a fact that the service was none existant. Scotland midfield was totally over run by England. Can remember a wide player beating our full backs and putting a ball across, let alone the CMs feeding balls into Chrissy

Actually in 2nd half Scotland looked even worse. That Stevie May was like someone from the crowd who won the tombola to play 2nd half!

Thought the Florest players did ok to be fair. As good as I have seen them play!

Anya is just like Ibe. No brain. Martin was busting his gut (for him) to get in the box for the delivery only for Anya to lose it or Robertson? to hoof it out or miscontrol it.

Martin cannot play in a team full of inferior footballers.

Agree with 4eranio, CM never got in to the game and it largely passed him by. I felt for him to be subbed at HT but he returns unscathed and will go to Watford fairly fresh. Besides if he keeps up his form for us he will stay part of the Scotland set up.

JR is a boys own type player, he's direct and when you get in to the box at pace like he does you are going to hurt the opposition. Only got 10mins but imagine how good he felt after the impact he made on the Scotland side.

Both these players have merited international call ups and could feature for a long time to come.

It's brilliant following derby at the minute.

Martin seems pretty gutted with the performance according to quote attributed to him in DET.

Let's hope it's not knocked his self belief or that he tries to hard to work on what went wrong and starts to stop doing all the things that have worked so well for us.

Comment from the Aberdeen board " If nothing else,we've at least discovered that Chris Martin isn't the answer and should never be seen again, that is a bonus". Isn't that a bit worrying for side with Premiership aspirations ?

Not really. Scotland don't play like we do - at all.

They play like we did under Clough. Lots of nice passing between the defensive 5. Work the overload for the winger and hope he does something. At which point Martin becomes completely redundant.

Plus, is this coming from a team with PL ambitions containing a team which relies on Antonio? Hang on, you're a bit like Scotland when Vaughan plays, aren't you?

Bit worrying, seeing as though every England player plays in the PL and snuffed them out completely.

To say that Martin had to feed off scraps is a massive understatement and its Scotland's loss if they never pick him again .Messi could have played up front for them last night and would have been subbed at half time ,Scotland were that bad

Not really no, Martin is excellent at championship level, I posted on another thread that I thought he'd struggle, there was a reason he didin't feature for Norwich after they got into the prem! Scotland have a number of championship quality players in their team how many do England have? The difference in quality was clear on the night.

Realitsically IF we were to get promoted, there would have to be some significant changes as I can on one hand the players in our squad that have the potential to move up a level.

that's a bit harsh. while I agree it's a big step up for him he's clearly a much better player now than he was at Norwich. he can't be

I agree with Rapid. Martin is our Ricky Lambert, who made the step up to become an established Prem striker

He does benefit from our system, which isnt how Scotland played him. Dont think we would chuck our system out though IF we get promoted

A top top striker - best in the Championship!
