Thread: How Wrong Can You Be?

Give him his due - no-one can be that stupid and yet still be able to construct the point in coherent English. I quite like his comedy value, makes me chuckle.

No point getting heated about it, he's clearly on a mission and pursuing it with a tenacity I can only tip my hat to.

Meanwhile, we're top of the league, and I really enjoy watching us play.

I admit, I'm always puzzled by his negativity. Does he actually mean it or is it merely to stimulate discussion?

Take this argument, say this time last year you had 40 points, but were 3rd. This year you have only 35 points but are 1st. Is that regression?

I remember 1 year Real won La Liga with just 68 points pipping Deportivo. Does it mean they were not good?

No it means the league got a bit tougher, teams got better and there was more fight in them. Like for example when Derby won the title in 1972. I think they had 4 teams who could have won it on the final day. They won because they were the best that year. Or take Liverpool this year, now struggling so bad from last season, but is it really that bad?
Last season they conceded 52 goals and finished 2nd.

So they got away with it but this year, with a lack of goals, the problem of last season is magnified. Sure they slid a bit, but the fact is that they always had a defensive problem that wasn't solved, this season it became

[quote="Rattea"]Excellent question Rapid ….. “How wrong can YOU be?” When you don’t think about a subject and ask questions then YOU will be very wrong. And you nearly always are. Even to the point as to what I have said over the years you seem to have to change and lied about. So you always get it very wrong nearly ALL the time!

So over two years ago when people said he was the new Scholes and would leave during the next transfer window for £Xm. I have said he’s young and a steady Championship player (never said rubbish once) not a player that is likely to light up world football as you and others were stating not so long ago. Let’s look at the evidence:

    - Said over two years ago at the time we would be luky to get £500k for him. Never had a bid in two years I believe so proved correct
    - Hes still at the club when other players like Saha and Ince have been snapped up long ago.
    - No big bids come in for him even tho Rush said he can

The verdict of the neutral court:

We find in favour of Dale.

PS: Got any charts for colouring? I have a 4 year old nephew, it should keep him occupied for a weekend or two!

Ratty I get the points you are making and I feel there is a debate to be had. I am interested to know though, if we keep up our current form and go up automatically, at what point would you think we have improved and progressed,or would you at all?

It seems by his argument, that IF we got promoted, say with a lower points total than last year, then that would not be an improvement.

In the same way that a team beats another top 6 team 5-0 with over 25% of the squad consisting of players that McClaren ahd signed either on loan or permanent means that he hasn't improved the squad.

Or that retaining all the players on long term contracts does not represent protecting our assets.
